You don't know who you are

1. Requesting the Manager

Probably the most common description regarding the karen-figure is related to requesting a superior. Whether it's about the drink they said they didn't order or that they have to wait longer for something that is rightfully theirs, they want the situation rectified because they are too important to be unsatisfied. No just won't cut it and they will tell you so. But just because you request the manager doesn't mean you're a karen. Right??? 😳

2. Attitude of Entitlement

Something about the air around them or maybe it's from the half-smirk that is distantly related to the smile, either way you can tell they expect something from everyone. Self-crowned queens will not be denied.

3. The Haircut

Is it the bob haircut? Is the defining feature that it is dyed or naturally looks that shade. They may not have exactly what the well-known "karen haircut" is, but they work with what they have but get a close as they can. If it's not perfect it's not their fault it's the hair's.

4. Being the Center of Their World

Everything is about them and their opinion is required for everything. When others do not listen they switch to "just saying" what's on their mind because they will be affected and therefore you have to know exactly what they think.

5. Demands

No such thing as chill time with a Karen around. There is always something else to be done or to get because they will request what can be requested. What? You didn't want to do that right now or ever? No wasn't actually an option they were just being polite. Wait. They have to have to wait their turn in line? They now want to speak to your manager about you restricting their American rights. 🇺🇸

6. The Expression

You've seen it. It's framed by their pretentious hair and anchored by lips drawn into a tense line. There is frustrated disappointment in their judging eyes. Their nose seems always turned upward so they can look down on all those below them.

7. False Witness

Gossip groups are where karen's are forged. Out of shared criticism comes the need to be above those around you. It doesn't matter if the stories and facts about others are 100% true, what they say becomes true because they are just that important.

8. VIP

They weren’t supposed to what? Well how were they supposed to know that rule applied to them like it does everyone else? In these situations the karen’s famous I’m-special attitude makes them think that the NO PARKING sign or Just Take One Rule is for everyone else except them.

9. Running in packs

While typically you will see a Karen on her own or with her mini-me, there are times when a large group can be sighted. Maybe they will be gathered at the spa, mall, or just a very unlucky restaurant. This is not a time to bond but rather reassure themselves or their status and perspective on life. It is the karens against the world after all.

10 Denial

Some of these may seem too familiar, maybe we all have acted a bit like a karen before, but hopefully you don't match too many items on this list. If so, then you someone somewhere has probably given you the label. Don't start denying it to your friends and family because that might mean you’re more karenish than you think. Best way to prove it is do the opposite of what's on this list. Treat others a little kinder, find things to smile about, and you really should try a new haircut.
