There are villages like mine all along the border as sentries to battle the evil on the other side. very few actually know what is over there. Most who go over never return. those who do die quickly from insanity or wounds.

Hotel rooms are naturally creepy places. Beware room 1408. Checking into the hotel in 2007, 1408 was released to theaters. Based on the short story written by Stephen King, writer, Mike Enslin does not believe in paranormal activity. Upon receiving a mysterious postcard from the Dolphin Hotel in New York, Enslin checks into room 1408. The nightmares begin the instant he shuts the door.

Together Forever
He’s looking this way again. I purposely, resolutely, ignore him as always, well since the first time that is. Try and ignore him I mean, as he creeps me out, and he is always in the corner of my eye. He declared, that first time, his undying love for me, in glorious poetic prose, loudly and astride a chair in the school canteen. He called it ‘Catriona my reason for Living’. I can only imagine the colour I must have become. I’m sure I could have lit up the whole school. My friends doubled up and I could get no sense or assistance from them. I or my friends don’t find him funny anymore. The coffee he is drooling into is doing a terrible job of blocking the smell emanating from his armpits. For flip sake has he no friends or family to tell him.

Grotesque
Such strange little faces, those faces carved from stone. I see them outside the church building, carved into the grey rock around the door corners, or up near the guttering. I found out that they are called 'grotesques,' and as I stand beneath them, peering up into their cold eyes, I am always a bit intimidated, and disgusted, but also I am interested in how human each face looks.

Compelled
Mesmerizing colors of autumn twilight break rays of the dying light upon the entry way. Standing before the majesty of a grand stairway that lingers up twisted dark wood rails stands a solemn figure. No words spoken, just the cold gaze from under old overgrown eyebrows from the figure draped in old grey robes. Stepping at a pace with steady reserve I find a cold steel chill run through me. The old oaken door creeks closed behind me as a faint sound of a bell chimes in the recesses of the upper landing.

Revisiting John Carpenter's 'Halloween'. Top Story - October 2020.
There was an uncanny spectral element to the film. The vintage aesthetic, the way the camera maneuvered throughout its entire duration. Its minimal use of spectacle and special effects. Its impeccable flow; transitioning from scene to scene without losing a grasp of my attention.
