We went to bed on a Friday night, with the dog asleep in his usual spot at the foot of our bed, and when we woke up on Saturday morning, he was gone. No windows ajar, no doors left unlocked - the dog had simply vanished!

And So, I Wait
The long stone corridor, which once had been well kept and illuminated with torches, which in turn had hung from the polished brass sconces, was in disrepair. The only way to tell that the corridor existed at all was by the light of a single torch, held up by my own hand which was neither polished nor brass. Of course, I knew it was there before I arrived, because in the daytime when I usually passed by these ruins, it was quite visible. I passed the site hundreds of times before this night, but only now ventured within the crumbling stone walls, down into corridors that, like this one, were dark and foreboding. There was no real reason for me being there that night, save for the sense of adventure I had harbored for a long time. My footsteps echoed as I walked, making me certain that the corridor continued for quite some time, but I had no doubts or worries. I was alone, here, in the dark and the gloom. Water occasionally dripped from unseen sources, and a few times a large rat scurried across my path, as I wandered deeper into the abandoned ruins.

Grandmother And Her Demon
Old Pema shuffled around her kitchen feeling her way through. At a soft volume, latin metal music hummed through her record player. And although she didn't understand the lyrics she played it to feel closer to her grandson. She smiled while carrying her tea and scones back to her sitting room, unfortunately on her way she bumped the record player causing it to skip and repeat a verse over and over. She grumbled to herself as she set her snacks down to fiddle with the repeating record. Unbeknownst to her as she fussed a portal sprung open behind her. Through this gate a grotesque, gnarled arm reached out. Black claws extending from slick leathery fingers. Another arm protruded and both found hold of the wooden floor, together they pulled a creature from depths no human should ever encounter.

Paid For You
It was cold. There was no light, save for the small hole in the rough burlap sack over my head. I felt the freezing metal chair under me. The only separation between the chair and I was my thin shirt and skirt. My bare feet shivered from the frigid concrete. Piercing through the hole of the sack, I could see the concrete walls held copper pipes that lead around the room. There were very few bright light fixtures dangling ominously from thick black cords. I shifted my gaze to the metal table a meter away from me. My breath quickened as my blue eyes laid onto the various surgical equipment. They were all laid out neatly, possibly handled with intense care. I abruptly turned to my left to find another table. This table instead held more rustic tools. There was a blowtorch, a multitude of hammers, wrenches, drills, and firearms surrounding the main prize, a chainsaw.
