Autumn, 26th of October
My dear Desean, I finally felt a chill in the air today, which is saying a great deal for me. It's been quite some time since I felt anything at all, so the shift in air temperature against my skin was almost alarming, until I realized what it was. It was nice, though. It reminded me of you. But who am I kidding. Everything reminds me of you. I wake to the morning rays sliding through the curtains of my window and I see how they fell on your face all those years ago. The smell of fresh coffee brewing, the sound of the shower running, the tinkling of laughter from the TV. You're in everything and yet you're not here at all.

The Dark Mist
This was a night unlike any I have ever experienced. First, it is hard to say I have lived a normal life or had a decent upbringing, because deep down inside I already know that is not at all true. I have continued to notice even stranger down falls in the month of October. It really gets freaky around Halloween. I really do not understand it, all I can do is sit up and fathom and assume in my mind, “Everything will be all right, it will be ok”. Unfortunately, I am always in the wrong. I have been noticing strange things in my house around the times when normal people are usually in the bed sleeping comfortable.

A Dragged Out Halloween. Third Place in Costume Contest Challenge.
2020 has been a difficult year for queer artists and the drag community on the worldwide stage. Physical shows had been cancelled worldwide and we all became bedroom queens —a queen who only creates drag in a private space, opposed to creating and sharing in live public forums. In response to this, drag queens and kings started to create online shows which swiftly became the new norm for our community with shows being streamed all over the internet and prominently on Facebook, Youtube and Twitch. Even now in October, many, many months since lockdown began, there are still online shows going on worldwide even if live performances are allowed in your local area. It truly does seem that digital drag is here to stay, at least for the meanwhile, and is the only way that I am personally able to perform due to lockdown restrictions on live performances in Scotland.

Tar Filled Heart
Cyrene floated in the current, drifting effortlessly along the coral reef. She once admired it for its beautiful, diverse colours. It had teemed with life, and different types of fish spilled in and out of every crevasse, a blossoming underwater garden. The reef served as a safe haven to many—Cyrene included. It was home to a colony of mermaids, of whom she called her own. For as long as she can remember, her mother ruled as Matriarch. As Cyrene grew older, position of Matriarch was passed along to her. The mermaids were her loved ones, and the reef was a sanctuary.

Since the Covid-19 outbreak began, families remain concerned about the health and well-being of their loved ones. Due to the economic implications of the pandemic, many families are also feeling the financial crunch. Not wanting to deprive children of the traditional Halloween experience, most parents are opting for a safe, affordable Halloween. When it comes to celebrating Halloween, what children really want is a costume that doesn’t compromise on scare factor. It can be argued that all a trick-or-treater really needs to embody Halloween’s most iconic figure is a white linen and a pair of scissors.
