The Starling Hotel: Midnight Chronicles
It was dark, cold and raining the night Deanndra Sanderson carried her bags onto the nineteenth-floor elevator of the Starling Hotel. The cascade of rain could be heard tapping gently against the large French windows at the end of the hall. A sudden and thunderous bolt of lightning brightly illuminated the tall windows but added only a hint of light to the long hallway. The now solemn windows and profoundly eerie aura did well to hide the extreme temperament beyond them. Turbulent and impressive, the thunderstorm roared outside, but inside, past the soundproof windows, it was barely audible at all.

Remember
"Ever...Ever...Ever! Where are you?!" I can hear a woman's voice calling my name, she's scared. For herself or for me I don't know yet. Everything is pitch black, I couldn't even see my hand reach my face. Nearly poked my eye in the process of feeling the warm liquid on my temple. Unsure what was on the tips my fingers, yet having a feeling it may be blood. There's a smell of iron is in the air all around me. I take a step forward, "squish" is the sound my boots make against the floor. Wherever I am and currently was is still pitch black, with no light switch on the walls.

Freaky: The Gen Z version of Scream
When Wes Craven released Scream back in 1996, he truly changed the horror genre. After over a decade of slasher movies being overdone and beaten like a dead horse (pun intended), this classic provided a fresh take by providing humor, wit, and self-awareness. While it certainly wasn't the first horror comedy to break the fourth wall, it was effective enough to create a slasher renaissance. The next five years saw a whole slew of Scream copycats that included I Know What You Did Last Summer, Urban Legends, and Valentine. Even though that hype train has since left the station, Craven's beloved love letter to the horror genre continues to influence some of today's horror movies. Last night, I saw what could possibly be Generation Z's version of Scream. I am, of course, talking about Freaky.

Scream: The Best Horror Series That No One Takes Seriously
What's your favorite scary movie? This is the question that my favorite scary movie begs. With huge stars like Drew Barrymore and Courtney Cox, Scream was bound to be a hit from the beginning. But its star-studded cast isn't the reason that I and so many others go straight for this classic when spooky season starts. Scream is a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Confused by how real my latest nightmare had been, like I was at war with the darkness, the shadow people, and I refused to surrender the only thing in this world that is truly mine, my Soul!

In Heaven, Haunted
"Only the marvelous is beautiful." --Andre Breton, Surrealist Manifesto (1924) Eraserhead is the dawning of David Lynch's tumorous, nightmare voyage through the land of cinematic subconscious fear and invasion; I say it is a "haunted film"; its grainy ninety minutes or so, which drag on with the zombie-like gait of a somnambulist, seem to evoke a timeless era of American history that never, in point of fact, actually existed. It is a world that seems ripped from the post-war memories of Eisenhower baby boomers; yet, it hearkens back, because of its curious soundtrack mixture of hissing, churning industrial musique concrete (designed by the late Alan Splet), with the Roaring Twenties jazz of Fats Waller, to an even earlier era: an era of flappers, gunzels, Harlem Renaissance horn-blowers and, well ...Fats Waller, of course. Yet, that is still not quite right. The film emerges, full-bodied, from the recesses of a dream, coming to us as a coded vision from the maelstrom of the filmaker's own subconscious arena, wherein the sins of the past are given growth, naturalistic growth, to blossom and sicken like overripe worms, weeding through the representational rock-like prison of his creative soul.

The Setup
It's October nightfall. You find orange leaves crushed here and there into the roads, needles everywhere. You feel like being among the forest trees in a hammock. Fall is your time of year, especially for Halloween. There’s a slight drizzle as you walk to the parking lot. You’re glad you’ll make it to your car in time before it starts to pour. You accidentally bump into someone. “I’m sorry,” you say, but the man keeps on heading towards the street. You see he’s blind. Where’s his cane? You try to guide him. Cars are coming. You run to stop him. You shout out to him. He can’t seem to hear you. He walks his own way and crosses the road oblivious to the fact he made it safely. Whew. You follow him. He passes the nearby shops, the clearing, and reaches the corn fields. Then, he stops abruptly as if he was about to smack into a wall.

This tale begins in 1896 at the Key West home of Mr. And Mrs. Thomas Otto. The Otto's were cruel people and had a reputation for mistreating their servants. One servant, a Bahamian maid well versed in the ways of voodoo, took care of the couple’s young son, Robert Eugene Otto (Gene). One day she decided to get back at the Otto family for her mistreatment and presented four-year-old Gene with a cursed doll named Robert. The straw-stuffed toy stood three feet tall and bore an amazing resemblance to Gene.

I was settling in from a long day from school and work. my older siblings and parents was out for a wedding after party just for adults. I am home alone during this time period. I went into my bedroom to stripped my work clothes into something more comfortable clothing since it is late October. I got into my fresh clothing, plugged in my phone. I went to lay down, listening to relaxing nature on my phone. I was dozing off until I heard a loud slamming door.
