The Dark Grove
There is something unnerving about a dark patch of woods in an unlikely area. Shadows play on your nerve endings and the hair on your arms and the back of your neck stands out as you get the feeling you are being watched. Trees line the pathway from both sides arching over the pathway and sealing the canopy into a dark eerie grove filled with darkness. The hoots of giant owls and golden eyes stare back at you and things swoop down from branches above in the darkness. Even on a sunny day the darkness awaits in the dark grove.

Split-Room
Dear Lacey, It's a pleasure to be able to use a pencil again, a bothersome it can be, stuck in a room answering questions that were not even questions. The doctor kept showing me inkblots on white paper, explaining with undermining ease and with redundant questioning. I do not appreciate the tone when he does, acting as if I did not know what a Rorschach's Inkblot test is. While having seen many of these odd-looking images in many scholarly books, never did I felt like if I had a choice to say what it was. Honestly, I had difficulty answering the doctor's question: 'what does it look like to you?'

Haunted Movie
What is it with old vacant homes that bring out the fear in us? What about those falling apart marionettes? Especially those that are supposed to be clowns? I blame Stephen King and his story, IT. The literal God of horror he is. I still blame my mother for getting into all things old, ghostly and haunted; though I'm not mad about it. It just gave me a better appreciation for Halloween and how it can be just as pretty as Christmas lights on a snowy night. If you know what to look for that is.

The Hunger
Tom Larsen pressed himself deeper into the shadows of the corner, careful not to upset the pyramid of discarded paintcans and thinner balanced precariously in front of him. An old tarp, stiff with splatters of paint and pulled haphazardly over his head finished his effort at concealment. Still, it seemed that the thunderous knocking of his heart treacherously vied with the stuttering gasp of his breath to give away his position and set the monsters upon him.

My Review of "Fantasy Island"
Fantasy Island is a Blumhouse horror movie that's exclusive to Amazon Prime. It came directly to stream in 2020 so we didn't hear too much publicity about this movie. It's a pretty good cast for such a movie and the idea actually quite intriguing but the movie ultimately falls short closer to the end of the movie.

Critical Analysis: Thoroughbreds, Film
**SPOILERS** If you have not seen the film Thoroughbreds please be aware that the following review contains spoilers. When I was in high school I discovered cult classics. Every weekend my friends and I would watch another: The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Heathers, Donnie Darko, A Clockwork Orange, Pulp Fiction, Fight Club, Reservoir Dogs. We loved the movies that were so weird they were known for it. But always, aside from their crazy characters, bizarre scenarios, and at times overt violence, these movies deliver powerful observations on the sheer oddity that is society and human nature.
