**SPOILERS** If you have not seen the film Thoroughbreds please be aware that the following review contains spoilers. When I was in high school I discovered cult classics. Every weekend my friends and I would watch another: The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Heathers, Donnie Darko, A Clockwork Orange, Pulp Fiction, Fight Club, Reservoir Dogs. We loved the movies that were so weird they were known for it. But always, aside from their crazy characters, bizarre scenarios, and at times overt violence, these movies deliver powerful observations on the sheer oddity that is society and human nature.
With this historic grand conjunction taking place at 0 degrees Aquarius, this incoming energy will impact our entire planet in ways that we can not yet predict, understand, or maybe even imagine. Aquarian energy is completely new, different, and unexpected. Humanitarian, quirky, progressive, future-oriented, of-the-people, and unique.
There's a lot going on this month, if you can't already feel the energy! First off, we have tonight's Full Moon and Harvest Moon. Chiron conjunct Mars in Aries has been bringing attention to wounds to our core personal beliefs or formation of self. In direct opposition with the moon tonight, it's a great time to identify these wounds and do some meditative visioning around accepting, integrating, healing, and releasing, especially with the use of fire or smoke. You might also consider reframing these wounds to understand the gifts and lessons that they taught you. Bring forward the lessons, and leave the pain behind. Read my full moon in aries article for more on tonight's moon.
October opens with a Full Moon in Aries opposite the Libra Sun on the first of the month, setting the tone for the next few weeks. Aries energy values "me" while Libra favors "we." While the collective energies might be encouraging us to look for partnership, connection, pleasure, and ease (hello cuffing season), the full moon conjunct Chiron in Aries may highlight wounds to our psyche that aren't quite healed, or old wounds that are reopened by life circumstances, posing a difficult challenge to our ability to connect intimately with others.
Cooking is a form of self-care and grounding. After beginning my cycle this morning I decided I might as well replenish my body's iron supplies, so I made iron and magnesium the inspiration for this meal. When women bleed we lose iron, and magnesium can help improve mood and alleviate menstrual cramps, so my desire for this dinner was to help with both of the above.
I split my time living in Los Angeles and on a tiny little island off Massachusetts where I had the pleasure of growing up. I love to write about a variety of topics ranging from sex to stars to integrated wellness to abstract philosophy.
At first glance you might just think that astrology is about planets moving through the sky relative to our position on Earth. You would be correct!
