It's in the Woods
I’m a 40-year-old construction worker, and I just bought a house up in the wooded area of my town. The reason why I bought it was because it is mostly secluded, neighbors are spread out, and the nearest grocery store is about 25 minutes away. I don’t like people all that much. So it was the perfect buy for me. However, I just put it back up for sale, there’s something out here with me, and I don’t want to go back to that place; I’m staying in a hotel for now.

Max.
Let me tell you a story about this young man named Max. My name is Al and I was Max’s best friend growing up. Max is fueled by hatred, he was a child that never had a chance to make it in this world. He had a bad upbringing, his mom died at birth so his dead beat father took care of him if you want to call it that. His father was the meanest man I’ve ever met in my life. Randle was his name, he would punish Max for just about anything, and he used to beat him until he would almost lose consciousness. This one time, Max was outside playing with some of the neighbor kids on his block, and then Randle came home and must’ve thought that he was having too much fun. He did his infamous whistle to call him back into the house and punched him in his stomach so hard he puked on the floor, and some of it got onto Randle’s shoe, so he beat him even more because of that.

Yee Naaldlooshii
Like many, I have been surrounded by the paranormal since my first breath on this plain. My grandmother introduced me at a noticeably young age to ghost stories, television shows, movies and everything of the like. My earliest memories were of watching the silent black and white Dracula, and ET was my first window to the idea of "something more". To give a brief yet accurate depiction of the household I grew up in, I was surrounded by neopagan culture and became a confirmed Methodist at 13 to rebel against the paganist lifestyle of my mother and sister. My older sister spent many years as an Eastern Religions professor and was one of the only white women in some odd years to participate (bites, blood, and all) in a traditional Haitian voodoo practice. I have been smacked upside the head for pronouncing "voo-doo" and not the correct Creole way "vah-due".

The Portal in the Closet
Alex had found an apartment. Finally. It was a challenge for sure and definitely not the first place she would have picked. Unfortunately, with her recent bout of homelessness and her poor credit, she figured beggars could not be choosers.

Tap tap tapping
The following is a a rough first draft of a short story attempt, not great, not horrible, just getting back into writing. I used to live on my own in a studio style flat and would hear some strange sounds. Probably innocent but the mind wonders and creates. There is a lose inspiration from my dislike of ladders (unknown reasons, never had an incident with one). Thanks for the read, tips are appreciated. Enjoy, or not.

Johnny's Stolen Liver..
It was a chilly January evening. Johnny was helping his mother prepare a liver stew after school. "Oh shit" he heard his mother say. "We have forgotten the liver Johnny!" she exclaimed. Their car broke down after driving home from the store earlier that day. Johnny considered the disappointed look on his mother's face and decided it best to walk.

Death Comes
It was the smell that caught their attention, an entire street of people exited their homes to investigate the powerful smell of rot. A couple of dozen people walked into the street to talk to one another and discuss the origin of the smell. Over the sound of talking came a far more ominous sound, a sound of cracking, followed by crunching and finally a woman screaming from down the road "Run! For the love of god run!" Everyone there turned to look towards the commotion, to see a woman running up the road towards them. As she was running through the crowd of people, one of the men grabbed her "What's going on?" "Let go!" The woman slashed a knife at the mans hand. "What the hell is wrong with you lady?!" The man said, stepping away from the mad woman. "What the fuck?" One man said, looking in the direction the woman came from. Everyone turned their attention away from the woman, which she then used to run for her life. Horrified mouths were hung loose at the site they beheld. A large crowd of slow moving bodies were shambling through the street towards to onlookers, the smell of rot got stronger the closer they got. One of the men closest to the approaching crowd stepped back in fear, tripping and falling to the ground. Members of the shambling crowd surrounded the man who had begun to scream in fear and then in pain. A few brave souls rushed to the mans aid, only to be grabbed. And in front of the now truly horrified crowd, The mass of writhing, decaying bodies ripped and tore the now screaming bodies to pieces.
