Ya know how sometimes you see a trailer for a movie and you think to yourself, “wow this is going to be terrible, I can’t wait to see it”? Well that was my exact thought process when I saw the trailer for 65 starring Adam Driver. We never got around to seeing it in the theaters but now that it's on Netflix we are finally diving in. Doing any dinosaur movie after the existence of Jurassic Park is super bold but here we go, my review of 65.

Maestro
So the only thing I have heard about the movie Maestro was controversy over the film's decision to put Bradley Cooper in a prosthetic nose. This was a wildly racist decision on behalf of the production, especially considering the fact that Copper’s actual nose looks very similar to Bernstiens on its own and did not need cosmetic enhancement. The whole Jews have big noses thing was not at all necessary to include in the film and there are about 1000 ways to make it clear Berstien was a jewish man without the nose. That said, I never got around to seeing the movie…until now. Biopics of prominent figures have always felt a little Oscar-baity so I really don’t have a strong desire to watch this film whatsoever. But I promised that I would watch and review as many films released in 2023 as possible, especially the Oscar contenders so here we are. The formal review of Maestro, now on Netflix.

Ranking Rom Coms
It seems that the genre of romantic comedies have made a comeback. For the first time since the late 90s romantic comedies were released in a wave this year. 6 romantic comedies is a lot for a single year and yet here we are. Some were fantastic and some were really really not. But that said we’ve ranked superhero movies and animated movies so I thought that we should rank the romantic comedies of the year. We are going to take this list from worst to best.

My Review of "Gremlins 2: The New Batch"
Gremlins 2: The New Batch is a really weird sequel that came out back in 1990. It's been a while since the first movie so a lot has changed. The way they make movies with special effects, tone and social dynamics have all changed. Like the previous movie this movie is a product of its time but it is very well aware of itself. Fans of the first movie may feel totally out of place with this one because the tone has changed entirely.

Wonka - A Movie Review
Any dream comes true if you believe. Wonka delivered chocolate into theaters in 2023. The film follows the tales of a young Willy Wonka. The aspiring chocolatier wishes to open a chocolate factory. He discovers that the industry is run by greedy chocolatiers so he must follow his heart.

If Christmas is going to happen, us kids are taking a stand. Unaccompanied Minors is a 2006 film. Following a group of stranded kids at an airport during Christmas, they embark on an adventure to escape to their destination and reunite with their families. They have to put their differences aside and work together.

My Review of "Gremlins"
Gremlins is a Christmas horror movie that came out back in 1984. I remember seeing this as a kid and even then it wasn't a very scary movie but it had it's moments. The biggest thing I remember about this movie was that I bonded with my mom of all people over this movie. She thought gizmo was the cutest thing. Looking back at Gizmo now I realize a lot of the "cute" monsters from the 80s weren't so cute.

My Review of "Please Don't Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain"
Please Don't Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain is a comedy that came out closer to the tail end of 2023. Please Don't Destroy is a trio that I love seeing on Saturday Night Live so when I heard that they made a movie I had to check it out. If you're into their skits on Saturday Night Live then you will know what to expect in this movie. It's a lot more of that but with a lot of set up for longer paced jokes.
