The Color Purple
The Color Purple is a movie musical version of a stage play, which is a musical version of the movie, which is the adaptation of the book. It is the only piece of media with that many adaptations that has maintained quality every single time. The touching, gorgeous, incredible story and music of the stage musical translated so beautifully to the screen and The Color Purple is easily one of the best movies of the year. If you like movie musicals you will love this movie, and if you don’t love movie musicals you should still watch this movie. All the reasons I normally hear from people for why they don’t like musicals don’t at all apply to this film.

Top 5 Tubi Villainesses of 2023
This has been an amazing year for villainesses from Tubi's original film; so much so that I've decided to give Tubi their own year-end list for 2023. Last year, I mixed some Tubi into the Lifetime year-end list, because a lot of Tubi's original films are the ones that Lifetime, Lifetime Movie Network, or even Lifetime Movie Club passes up. Regarding the number, I decided to list Tubi's five best villainesses, mainly because their releases don't really operate like Lifetime's. Combined, Lifetime and Lifetime Movie Network releases three thrillers a week (on non-holiday centered weeks). Tubi releases about three or four thrillers per month.

My Review of "Rebel Moon: Part One - A Child of Fire"
Rebel Moon is the big exclusive Netflix release of 2023 by Zack Snyder. There was a whole bunch of promotion going into this movie and I got caught up with the hype. I have to admit I flip flop when it comes to favoring Zack Snyder films. Half of his movies have me having the best time but half of them have me wanting to shut the movies off half way through. This is a little mix of both.

Wonka
There have been mixed reviews about the new Wonka movie starring Timothy Chalamet. With two previous Wonka movies the first thing I have to say is that absolutely nobody asked for this. When watching Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory no one in the history of ever has thought, well how did Wonka start making chocolate? So right off the bat this movie is entirely unnecessary. Now that I have seen it I can confirm that mixed is in fact the best way to describe this movie. When first seeing the trailer I knew that this movie was going to be really hit or miss and I was in fact correct.

Okay so I really thought that this movie had come out last year. That’s how long this year has been and quite frankly how long they were advertising it. We first started seeing trailers for 80 For Brady back in October of 2022 so when I saw that it's release date was 2023 I thought for sure that had to be wrong. So anyway we finally got around to watching it and this is my formal review for the based on a true story movie, 80 For Brady.

Red, White, and Royal Blue
Earlier this year a book adaptation of Red, White, and Royal Blue hit Prime video. It had a good internet reception which is really what my only metric is for these streaming movies. This movie also caused me to start a nice little research project called Why Does Hollywood Hate Lesbians? But that is a different discussion. Having some gay rep in the mainstream is always a good idea. So now that I’ve gotten around to watching it, let's get into the review for Red, White and Royal Blue.

Rebel Moon is the Future of Entertainment. Top Story - December 2023.
CAUTION: SPOILERS AHEAD. There is no nice way of putting it. Rebel Moon is terrible. But not terrible for the reasons that most people have noticed. After being out for a little less than two weeks, most people have panned the movie for what it is. A sloppy, copy and paste job of some of the most popular science fiction franchises. However, Rebel Moon is far more problematic than that. It goes beyond common sci-fi tropes. It mashes together nearly every successful genre possible in hopes of appealing to the majority people. In doing this, it is everything and nothing at once.
