The Search for the MacGuffin
"The MacGuffin is the thing that the spies are after, but the audience doesn't care." (Alfred Hitchcock). Here I am again, sitting in front of my typewriter. I have a sharp suit and seamed stockings. I have a cigarette permanently at one side of my mouth and I drink whisky with my black coffee for lunch. I’ve got to keep up with the boys in the writing room.

The Big White - A Movie Review

Civil War Movie Review
In the decades following the bloodiest conflict in American history, many have wondered what a hypothetical second civil war may bring to the nation. Alternative history has offered up many scenarios with full cinematic releases being few and far between. Releasing in a major election year no less, the provocative premise of Civil War from Alex Garland is ultimately wasted on a well-made film with shallow storylines and characters.

Rachel Reviews: Saltburn (2023)
I have had a curious afternoon. My ironing pile is huge and needed confronting. In order to diminish it effectively, I need distraction. I cannot stand and just iron. I need amusement in the form of something visual like a film or bingeable naffness like Married at First Sight.

Five Underrated Mandalorians and Concept Designs for Cosplay
Within the vast realm of Star Wars, the Mandalorians hold a prominent position in the ranks of popular cosplay subjects. For over a decade, as a dedicated cosplayer, I have experienced great excitement upon encountering novel characters and character designs at conventions attended with my sister and friends. These endeavors exemplify the beauty of the art form, not only in bringing characters to life through the eyes of talented artists, but also in sparking immense joy among children and families who cherish the opportunity to see their beloved characters materialize. Moreover, witnessing the creative interpretations and personal touches that cosplayers infuse into their designs is a captivating spectacle on social media. Among the most frequently portrayed characters, I have observed Bo-Katan Kryze, Sabine Wren, Padme Amidala, Ahsoka Tano, Hera Syndulla, and Duchess Satine Kryze. These portrayals serve as a testament to the dedication and artistry of the individuals who bring these characters to life.

Damsel-a review
Another tale of retold history. This could be a metaphor for indigenous people being overtaken by foreigners. The royal ancestors came to the land but found out a creature last of its kind already lived there. They set upon the creature and lied saying that the beast set upon them so they had to defend themselves. They killed her young unprovoked and right when they hatched. She didn't even get to see them. The King(Matt Slack) killed her babies and asked for mercy. The audacity.

Irish Wish-a review
A lesson about cowardice. Maddie took the easy way out in love and profession. She used Paul to share her thoughts and used the wish to attain a relationship. Paul may have used her for his image but she used him to avoid responsibility. People are often afraid of their potential greatness and Maddie was. During Paul's book reading, she recited the lines along with him but kept minimizing her contribution. She was not brave enough to confess her feelings to Paul in both universes but carried on with the wish. Thankfully, being with James allowed her to realize her self-worth and heightened her bravery.

Damsel teaches the importance of vengeance
After Eleven from the Stranger Things series, Millie Bobby Brown is known for her Enola Holmes character in the 2 character-titled movies. She is no stranger to portraying strength in women and she continues to do so as Elodie in 2024's Netflix movie, Damsel. It is yet another production where Millie Bobby Brown runs away from danger, confronts danger, and cuts her hair. On a more serious note, the movie's focus on vengeance through strength, trust, and teamwork is rather interesting.
