Should we allow people to be sued over a joke?
Can a joke ever go so far that it leads to a 10-year court battle? Apparently, it can. Back in 2010, Canadian comedian Mike Ward performed a 90-minute stand-up act that included a bit about Canadian celebrities who he believed were "sacred cows" that were considered too rich and powerful to be made fun of. In that bit he roasted Celine Dion, her husband Rene Angelil, and a young singer named Jeremy Gabriel.
KeggercastPublished 3 years ago in GeeksIf This Then That: Pretty Woman
Every great love story must have relatability, comedy, a tragedy, turmoil, and intense intimacy with the main characters or anyone who is an essential part of the movie. Pretty woman is the ideal love story because it had all of that and more. The story is sort of a Cinderella framed novelty with a twist. The best romances stories also come with challenges that require great sacrifice. The challenges thicken the plot and build excitement this keeps the viewers engaged minimizing the chances of people getting bored or falling asleep. Also a happy ending is the icing on the cake of all romance movies.
Curtis GreenePublished 3 years ago in GeeksA new breed of disaster film...
If you are anything like me, then you are a film fanatic, sometimes bordering on being a film snob. There are some genres you love, some you put in the “not so much” column, and those that you will absolutely, under no circumstances whatsoever be caught dead (or alive) watching. Well…that’s kind of the ground I dwell on. But lately, Hollywood has struggled to put out films that really get me excited. Don’t get me wrong…they put out “entertainment”, but it is at most a momentary distraction.

If you love Les Miserables, Downton Abbey, or Pride & Prejudice, but you cringe when you hear a string quartet playing Ariana Grande, consider something else for a show to take you back in time.
The Films That Award Ceremonies Forget
It was a foregone conclusion that in 1993, Schindler’s List would take away most of the significant film awards, followed closely behind by Tom Hanks’ groundbreaking performance in Philadelphia. The year-end roster included other fine cinematic works like In The Name Of The Father and The Piano.
What "Wandavision" Means for the MCU and Me
I still remember my first MCU movie. It was Guardians of the Galaxy back in 2014, so I came a little late to the party. I’d had a passing interest in the movies and comic books for a few months but was under the misguided idea that comics were for nerds. Yeah. That was me.

When you’re watching a show that you’re really into, there’s a certain magic to it. You know every character. You're attached. You look forward to the next time you get to sit down and sink into this alternate reality. You’re not in the story, but you could be. If you’re like me, you love shows that are considered realistic fiction. The ones that really hook me are some usually made up of mostly real life experiences, a bit of mystery, some amount of love story (of course), a touch of darkness, and a lot of whimsy. Whimsy, a noun that means playfully quaint or fanciful behavior or humor. Alternatively, a thing that is fanciful or odd. I think this is because I live a relatively “normal” life, but it’s fun to watch a show that explores and pushes the boundaries of my reality just a bit.

Turbulence shook the plane and Sarah's nails dug into the armrest. "Nervous flyer?" a voice asked her from across the aisle. She turned to look at the source and saw an old man.
Jasper James McGreavyPublished 3 years ago in GeeksMy Review of "Someone Marry Barry"
Someone Marry Barry came out back in 2014. That's only 7 years ago and yet some of the dialogue in this movie seems vastly outdated. I could have swore I was watching a movie from the early 2000s but it was more recent than that. It's a shock to see how much society has changed in such a short period of time. That's not to say this movie wasn't entertaining to watch though. If you can handle some of the not so politically correct dialogue you may enjoy this.
Brian AnonymousPublished 3 years ago in GeeksDark Triumph by Robin LaFevers
Dark Triumph is the second book of the His Fair Assassin trilogy, but it feels like a very different book from Grave Mercy. While both books are set in the court of 15th century Brittany, Dark Triumph deals mainly with the D’Albret household instead of the queen’s entire court. The change in main character and the change in setting means that the reader is in for a book that is distinct from the first of the series.
If You Like This Movie: A Guide for People Looking to Get into Classic Movies
Many young people are curious about older movies but don’t know where to begin. No one wants to waste their time watching something they’re sure they won’t enjoy but how do you determine if you are going to enjoy something without watching it? This made me think, as someone who has watched more movies than your average person, how I might help the people find older movies that might fit their taste.
