Synopsis

In 2011, young Shane takes a chance at trying something different, taking a gap semester in London for creative writing. With an Internship at a traveling magazine and cool friends and a super cute and dorky crush, who just so happens to love The Beatles as much as her by her side, everything seems to be looking up! Sadly, not all is what it seems, one thing led to another, like her parents blatant disapproval of her dream to be a writer, which left a distraught Shane. Fast forward to 2017, Shane is preparing herself for an unfulfilling career as a nurse , wondering "what if". She takes a chance to visit an old friend from her gap semester when suddenly they are thrown back 6 years into the past. Now armed with this chance to make a change in her future, will Shane use this situation to her advantage?

Review

I personally loved this book! Each character was full of life which in turn made the story interesting. The settings included different hot spots in Europe such as Rome, Paris and London. The author skillfully took me to these spots without ever leaving my home. What I didn't like however, was the time travel scene. One minute we're in an elevator in 2017, the next, the dorm's community kitchen in London in 2011, it just happened so suddenly which really threw me for a loop and left me a little confused at first. I did like how the book showed the complexity of college relationships , and how its so easy to let that person consume your thoughts, but when you are learning about yourself and paving your path, you must put yourself first then your partner, then you both will be stronger together. Another thing I enjoyed was Shane taking risks, in 2011 1.0, she often sold herself short, worried about how people would perceive her, but in 2011 2.0, she took risks which benefited her greatly, like being able to write an article for her writing internship, standing up to her parents about pursuing her dream of being an author. This book was so much fun to read and it inspired me to look into ways to pursue my own dream. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves seeing a character grow and pave their own paths.
