Which Expansion/Game Packs Ideas I Would Like To See Next In The Sims 4

With the announcement of the recent The Sims 4 Dream Home Decorator, and the Summer Line Up, I thought I'd talk through what Sims 4 Expansion/Game/Stuff/Kit packs I'd like to see over the next few months.

Oh the choices!

There has somehow been forty-two, yes, forty-two DLCs in The Sims 4, from expansions to game packs to stuff packs to the recent kits.

Now it's no secret that many of the expansions that have been released have been met with a mixed reception *cough* Journey to Batuu *cough*, but the game is starting to feel fuller with more and more opportunities for gameplay and creativity. But now that The Sims 4 has covered all of the generally expected expansions from previous packs like say University, or Island Living, or some kind of supernatural, now that the bases have all been covered, we're starting to see some new ideas that we haven't yet had in the series.

Last year we saw Eco-Living and Snowy Escape expansions, which I found were game-changing expansion packs, filled with new ideas, new items we have seen before, new gameplay possibilities. But there is still so much scope for new ideas with The Sims 4 before the inevitable Sims 5 emerges, and after investing so much time (and money) into The Sims 4, I've compiled a list of some of the packs I'd like to see new in The Sims 4 (EA you can pay me later).

Dating Pack (Speed Dating)

Love, sex, and marriage in The Sims 4 feels less exciting than it did in previous games from the series. Now that we live in a world of dating apps, I feel like there's so much more exciting scope that can come from love in general in The Sims 4.

Possible Features:

  • Online/App Dating
  • Compatibility (could we include the latest likes/dislikes and expand this?)
  • Starsigns
  • Matchmaking career
  • Secret getaway to a hidden lot if you achieve something?
  • Honeymoons?
  • More complex dating dynamics (open relationships?)

Farming Pack

Let's face it, the EA/Maxis team are probably bombarded on a daily basis with angry simmers wanting a farming pack in The Sims 4. And if they haven't picked up the hint, then teasing another 'natural' expansion for August was a terrible idea. If it isn't farming in August, then The Sims team prepare for carnage. A farming pack targets so many Sim plays and I think done right, it could appeal to everyone!

Possible Features:

  • Horses/Cows/Chickens/Farm Animals
  • New lot type, Farm
  • New skills, tractor riding, farming, horse riding
  • Hidden section of the new world for supernatural players where Faries/Werwolfs live, these would fit great into a farming pack without an entire pack for the occults
  • Expanding gardening even further
  • Supermarkets? I like the idea of being forced to get ingredients (which you could switch off in settings if you don't want)

Teen School Pack

Teenagers don't have an awful lot to do in The Sims 4, they are basically kind of children still but can do the majority of things that adults can do. There's been a demand to actually go to school for so long with Teenagers, and I think a school pack combined with the garage band pack that fans have been calling for would be a huge success.

Possible features:

  • Functional high school, where you go to school, similar to Get to Work - we have wanted this since The Sims 2
  • More stuff for teenagers to do
  • More involved Teaching career
  • Garage bands/groups/glee club - this would really fit in well with this pack instead of being its own
  • Connection with University pack

Other Desired Features

  • Another highly desired pack by the community is an adaptation of Sims 3 Generations. But here's the thing, wasn't Parenthood suppose to be a kind of adaptation already? Instead of Generations being a pack, I'd like to see some kind of expansion to the family tree and family connections. There doesn't seem to be any particular bond with other family members, and I'd love to have some of the function for distant relives to connect, maybe Inheritance. This was sort of included with sentiments, but not really with much impact on gameplay. The family tree feels really lame for me, and it's one of my favourite features as a generations player, but please can this just be something that should be already in the game for free and not a pack.
  • More holiday destinations. The Sims 3 World Adventures was a game-changer, and despite enjoying Jungle Adventures, there is SO much scope for more destinations. Battu doesn't count.
  • A global world map. With all the destinations, I'd love to see them connected in some way. I've seen some of the community already create some beautiful base worlds which connect all the incredible worlds, so why can't this be added to the official game?
  • More of everything! More traits, more aspirations, more interaction!
