The Medium Review
The Medium is a psychological horror game that takes clear inspiration from genre classics such as Silent Hill and Resident Evil, but often fails to solidify a meaningful identity of its own.

Time-travelling has always been a popular topic to explore in different video games. Prince of Persia, Timeshift, and Braid are the ones that instantly come to my mind. Some of them fared better than others but, ultimately, we have not had an absolute smashing hit in this department. Iron Danger tries to get there as well. Let us see how it coped with this task.

In the last decade, quirky dating sims have become a cultural mainstay. From Hatoful Boyfriend to I Love You, Colonel Sanders!, so many developers are creating off-beat dating sims to various levels of success. The execution of these vary wildly, starting at “cheap gimmick” and ending at “surprisingly heartfelt”. The trio at Rocket Adrift took a shot at this niche genre with Raptor Boyfriend. On this scale, Raptor Boyfriend delivers as a thoughtful and meaningful dating sim.

History is messy. The generational trauma that violence and war bring is excruciating. At times, it may seem hard to escape. Svoboda 1945: Liberation addresses these themes using a creative mix of full motion video, comics, and gameplay. FMV games are sometimes thought to be an aging relic of 80s and 90s gaming. However, the team at Charles Games have really utilized the format to create an intriguing peak at Czech history.

Making your way in the world today taking everything you’ve got? You want to go where everybody knows your (user)name. Well, it’s not every day I get to paraphrase the opening theme to Cheers, so we are already dealing with something special. Pull up a stool, grab a beverage and let’s get comfortable for the most unique game I’ve played this year (so far).

Yaga is a brand new Slavic inspired, procedural generated, action RPG from Breadcrumbs Interactive. While all that sounds ambitious Yaga doesn’t land too far away from getting it right.

When the press release for Coffee Talk landed in my inbox I was instantly intrigued and excited. The premise is exactly why I love indie games. No mainstream game could even attempt the design, goals and concept that Coffee Talk does. Unfortunately whilst it has a wonderful premise it falls short on nearly every aspect of its delivery.
Bill WilhelmPublished 3 years ago in GamersHeroland – PS4 Review
Here at Stoffel Presents we absolutely adore indie games. The weird, the artistic, the beautiful, The thought provoking. Quite often in indie games you find game mechanics or designs that would never see the light of day in a mainstream release and it is this diverse and vast range of amazing, unique and quite frankly brilliant games that we love… and then something like Heroland comes along.

Speed Limit (the brand new game from Croatian developer Game Chuck is due to hit Consoles and PC on 16th Feb 2021 and if you like high octane, retro fuelled, genre swapping arcade-style gameplay then Speed Limit is the game for you. Speed Limit is a work of art that makes you question the sanity of the developers. I have no idea what hellish fever dream Speed Limit was borne from but by Nimah, I am glad it is now a thing that exists!
Bill WilhelmPublished 3 years ago in GamersHeadbangers in Holiday Hell – PC Review
If being on Santa’s naughty list is this much fun, I’m never going back on the nice list. Headbangers In Holiday Hell is a 2.5D (ish) twin-stick shooter from Hammers & Ravens, the publisher of the excellent indie game Empires in Ruins. (which I’d highly recommend if you’re into tower defence games). The developers behind the game say that they were influenced by heavy metal music and shows like Beavis and Butthead
