'Days Gone' Is Showing Us the Future of Survival Horror Games (and Zomibears)
#Sony has far outdone themselves through the first half of 2017 with the #PS4 and brilliant marketing and a strategic plan to bring legions of gamers over to their consoles with incredible exclusive games like Horizon Zero Dawn and Uncharted. Sony hopes to continue that trend with Days Gone, the newest iteration on the zombie horror genre.

Zombies have infected all forms of entertainment over the last several years with big screen hit films like 28 Days Later, World War Z and Zombieland and small screen addictions like iZombie, Z Nation and the ever-popular The Walking Dead.

Tyler S. CallawayPublished 6 years ago in GamersSurvival of the Fittest: 7 Tips to Keep You Alive in Resident Evil 7
The legacy of Resident Evil has always haunted me, I've never been a gamer who enjoyed horror games in the least, but with all the hype surrounding Resident Evil 7: Biohazard I had to give it a shot. Throughout the history of the franchise, Resident Evil has always had it's share of spine-chilling moments and hair-raising experiences, and the latest addition serves as both a fresh twist and a return to the horror roots that made so many fall in love with the original games.

The world of video games is creepy enough as we are chased by the nurses of Silent Hill, T-virus zombies of Resident Evil, and the steampunk Big Daddies from Bioshock. However, is a true horror icon about to get a video game too?
Tom ChapmanPublished 6 years ago in Gamers5 Horror Game Clichés I Wish Game Developers Would Stop Using
SPOILER WARNINGS: Silent Hill: Downpour, Silent Hill 2, Outlast 2, Resident Evil 6, The Evil Within, The Evil Within 2 A trope is defined by good ole TVTropes.org as "more about conveying a concept to the audience without needing to spell out all the details." However, the very concept of a trope couldn't have been named without cliché. Clichéd concepts within media, such as video games, have been happening since their inception. Heck, Nintendo makes their billions with one of the most famous cliché characters of all time, but Mario is very much an icon of the culture of gaming.
Horror Games: From Niche to Nonsense
Maybe I've become too desensitized over the years to enjoy modern "horror" games. Lately, I've just felt that such games have either fit into two categories: "cliche horror trope bingo" and/or "trying way too hard." I'd say a perfect example of the first of those categories is the recently released The Evil Within 2. I honestly don't know what is impressing the gaming news giants to give it a high score... though I think IGN would be impressed with a game about paint drying.
'Silent Hill 4': The Forgotten Horror
Hello, and welcome back to Second Chances where I give the maligned and forgotten another shot. As I mentioned before, I consider the original Silent Hill to be one of the greatest horror games of all time. Even though it's nearly twenty years old, its story still knows how to chill you to the bone, its perfect atmosphere keeps you from getting relaxed, and the combat and puzzle solving are both easier to grasp and more involved than in other horror games of the time. Though the PS1 visuals can be a bit hard to look at these days, it is still the closest I've found to the perfect horror game.
Adam WallacePublished 7 years ago in Gamers'Bendy and the Ink Machine' Theory: What Happened to Sammy?
Warning: Contains spoilers for Chapter 3. Don't read until you are all caught up! Since its release back in February 2017, Bendy and the Ink Machine has become an indie hit online. Gamers have loved delving into its mysteries and piecing together the many clues strewn about Joey Drew Studios. One of the many tragic stories told in the game is that of Sammy Lawrence, the musical composer for the studio. Sammy is an intriguing figure, as his attitudes seem to vary drastically between his two available audio logs. He goes from being wary of Joey Drew's bizarre machinations, to throwing himself whole-heartedly into the worship of the Ink Demon. The question is, what could have influenced him in such a way? What, exactly, is happening to Sammy?
Eden RoquelairePublished 7 years ago in GamersPetscop Analysis
I heard about Petscop from a Game Theory video. The subtitle for the video was, "The Scariest Game You'll Never Play." And I thought instantly, that's bullshit, click-bait. I've deleted tons of crappy emails or scrolled while rolling my eyes past tons of comments of what they call "creepy pasta," that is, cut-and-pasted, internet-circulated horror stories, often having to do with urban legends about haunted video games.

Rhiannon WatcherPublished 7 years ago in GamersUntil Dawn Review
So today I am going to be reviewing the video game Until Dawn by Supermassive Games. This game is a multiple choice horror game that sets itself apart by basing its story off cliché horror elements. The game focuses on eight teenagers who decide to return to their friend’s dad’s mountain resort, one year on from the disappearance of two of their friends. These eight characters are all playable in the game and include Sam, Josh, Mike, Emily, Ashley, Chris, Matt, and Jessica.
