Preparing For The New Vocal Communities

How I Am Keeping On The Ball With Vocal

Introduction

Vocal is introducing four new communities;

  • Art
  • History
  • Humor
  • Men

I think this is a positive step, although I have said before I think some communities could be merged, but that is just my personal opinion and I have a feeling that the logistics behind it may be difficult for Vocal, although it shouldn't be, but there are a lot of other long-standing issues which probably won't be resolved that show that would be an issue and also Vocal Creators may not like their stories being subsumed into another community.

What I Am Doing To Prepare For The New Communities

A while ago I actually completed a post, which meant I had posted in every community, many of them only once, but the new communities mean that I have to write four new posts for when the new communities go live.

My Vocal friend Loryne Andawey has done a microfiction post for each Vocal community but will have to do four more when the new ones drop. It is the sort of worthwhile project that I would come up with, but Loryne took it and ran with it through to current completion and it is indexed in the Top Story below.

So to prepare for the new communities I am going to write a story for each one but not publish them until the new communities go live.

I have a feeling that there will be people who try to just move existing stories or rip the text out of old stories for a new one to put in the new communities because Vocal are offering a ten dollar bonus for any creator that posts in them, but all mine will be new although they may reference older relevant pieces of mine.

If people reuse their old work I would think that will be acceptable to the vocal powers that be.

I think my problem with this will be my impatience to publish, but I will just have four stories awaiting their new community and will have to be patient just for once.

By actually publishing this I will probably prime others to do the same thing, so I won't be the only one waiting to do this and hope that it doesn't annoy the people at Vocal too much, but it will be great to see the new stories filling up the new communities.

I have expressed reservations about the men's community, but it was something that was pursued by the late Tom Bradbury and his fans will be elated that it has finally come to pass.

Apart from my initial post, I will probably not be too active in this community, although this is the sort of thing that I have posted before that relates to the subject. This was one of my confessions.

While I have written a lot on humour, or humor however you want to spell it, I don't really see myself being too active although I have written several pieces on comic situations and the concept of comedy they are few and far between like this one that I wrote for a feature in the Vocal Social Society.

Art is more likely to get input from me as where I live in Newcastle is full of all forms of art, with many galleries and installations and this is a piece that I wrote on the Nort East's greatest artist, which could obviously easily fit into the community.

History may be the most difficult one for me because I don't think I have ever done anything historical unless you count some of my fiction. It also depends on what you define as history. I mean a lot of my Beat stories have been on Classical music so does that count as History, Music or both? This is one of those stories.

In Conclusion

This is just to let you know how I am preparing for the new Vocal communities. Read all about them here.

And my stories are ready to go

Another great reminder of what's coming soon, nicely illuminated with some good samplings of your work.
