Thank You, Mark Hamill
Mark Hamill - thank you. I have been a fan of your Star Wars work from the moment you stepped on screen, and I will admit, I felt cheated at the end of The Force Awakens. Your entrance just 58 seconds before the end credits started rolling left me stunned; just what the hell was happening?
Movie Review: 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi'
The nostalgia is no longer mine when it comes to Star Wars. A new generation of fans has picked up the mantel and while I still have strong feelings for my childhood favorite film series, it no longer belongs to me and my generation. Star Wars: The Last Jedi affirms the fact that the franchise has transcended what George Lucas created and morphed into something new. Does that mean I didn’t enjoy it? No, it just means that all things pass and while Star Wars: The Last Jedi is a fine movie, it’s no longer something I have deep feelings about.
The Last Jedi Review (Non-Spoiler)
Now, I'm not Variety or Holly Willoughby, so you'll find no spoilers here. Star Wars: The Last Jedi is the eighth film in the Star Wars franchise and the sequel to 2015's very successful The Force Awakens, but does it match that? Does it surpass it? In some ways yes, and in some no.
The 'Star Wars' Radio Dramas
'A New Hope' Perhaps one of the greatest science fiction movies of the twentieth century, Star Wars has captured the hearts of millions and lost a few of them along the way as the series went back in time. Of course, I’m talking about the prequels, but that’s not the purpose of this review.
'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' Returns to the Vietnam War Roots of the Star Wars Franchise
The best films, comics and TV series have always had a political edge to them — yet often, that political aspect becomes forgotten, lost in the mists of time. That's the case with Star Wars; the franchise was actually influenced dramatically by the Vietnam War. But Rogue One: A Star Wars Story returns us to that surprising, if often-forgotten, theme!
'The Last Jedi': Holding My Breath
I realize that when Star Wars: The Force Awakens bowed two years ago at around Christmas time, it was essentially a retelling of 1977's Star Wars, but with an updated storyline and a new cast. I know that, but I fell in love with this new series of Star Wars films and almost since the last frame of The Force Awakens, I've been eagerly anticipating the soft open of The Last Jedi, the next installment of this current trilogy, on December 14.
Hmmm, Copyright Issues We Have: Where Have You Seen 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' Before?
It was fanboy overload as Lucasfilm finally announced the long-awaited title for the eighth Star Wars film. "OMG they called Luke the last Jedi in the crawl for Episode VII, mind blown." Whether planned or not, the ominous title for #RianJohnson's upcoming #StarWars film seemingly spells doom for someone in the dwindling Jedi population. Cue internet trawling to decipher what on Earth the title could mean: Does it signal the demise of #LukeSkywalker, the training of Rey, or even the return of Yoda? The Last Jedi will keep us guessing right up until December 15.
Does 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' Signal the End of Jedi and Sith as We Know It?
With the episode title of Star Wars VIII finally revealed, the internet has been abuzz with speculation about the significance of the title The Last Jedi. It’s kind of confusing since the entire original trilogy is essentially about Luke being the last Jedi. If you want to get especially anal, you could argue that Obi Wan and Yoda were the last Jedi in the original trilogy until they transferred that title on to Luke. The most obvious thing is that the last Jedi in Episode VIII is referring to Luke who set himself into self-imposed exile after Kylo Ren slaughtered his new Jedi in the academy. Presumably, he’s going to try and train Rey who will take on the titular mantel of The Last Jedi. But wait just for a second there. What if we were to propose a far more radical significance behind the title of the Last Jedi? What if it’s in reference to the extinction of the entire Jedi order and Sith orders?
Star Wars, Too Much of a Good Thing?
Back in 2010, I remember my 15 year old self angry at Disney purchasing the Star Wars franchise and saying that they were going to continue the series. I remember thinking, "Oh come on they wrapped it up nicely just let it be."
