The majority of recent stories told within the Star Wars canon have been books and comics. One such example is Thrawn: Ascendancy: Chaos Rising, which was just released by Del Rey. Back in early January of this year, we got the announcement of The High Republic, which will introduce readers to an all-new era set 200 years before the films set within the galaxy far, far away. During the gaps between films and even TV shows, the books have been there for the fans so that they may continue exploring new stories set within the galaxy far, far away. However, we are also getting another type of book that is sure to please readers who want more details on certain weapons that we have seen in the various stories.

This October sees the release of Insight Edition's new book titled Star Wars: The Lightsaber Collection. This was written by Daniel Wallace, who is a comic book expert and author or co-author of many books such as The Jedi Path, The World According to Spider-Man, Warcraft: Behind the Dark Portal, Ghostbusters: The Ultimate Visual History, and, of course, the number one New York Times best-seller Star Wars: The New Essential Guide to Characters. When this new book hits major book stores across the country, fans will love and enjoy all the Star Wars references to various media. This new book will give readers the first comprehensive look on some of the newer lightsabers in the franchise with visual guide exploring the iconic and legendary weapons found within Star Wars universe, featuringfavorite hits from Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, comics, novels, and video games.

Star Wars News Net has exclusively revealed pages depicting Rey Skywalker’s yellow-bladed lightsaber, giving the reader a preview detailing the look of the weapon’s hilt and brief exposition about its creation. Rey’s yellow lightsaber has a unique design, which was a very universally disappointing reveal in Star Wars Episode XI: The Rise of Skywalker because the reveal of Rey Skywalker’s lightsaber was not until the end of the film.. Plus, when we saw it onscreen, we did not perceive the entire weapon within frame. Regardless, the handle of the lightsaber is made of Rey’s parts of scavenger staff. The yellow lightsaber color signified the beginning of her new path as she laid to rest Leia and Luke/Anakin’s weapons, so it made sense for a new Rey to have a new lightsaber revealed in the last film, but it was still disappointing to fans who wanted to see more. Even if it is not on film, surely we will see more of her yellow lightsaber in her coming adventures if any books, comics, video games, or shows are ever allowed to depict what happens after The Rise of Skywalker. While this is our first time seeing a yellow lightsaber in live-action, we have previously seen yellow-bladed lightsabers in the canon wielded by the Jedi Temple Guards on The Clone Wars and Asajj Ventres in the novel Dark Disciple.

Star Wars: The Lightsaber Collection is set to be released on October 20. This book will also feature lightsabers from many other characters, including Darth Maul (including his double-bladed saber and Darksaber), Darth Vader, Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Mace Windu, Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Kylo Ren, Ashoka Tano, and many more, thus feeding into the history of lightsabers in the Star Wars universe. With Daniel Wallace's specialty being the exploration of the underpinnings of popular fictional universes, Insight Edition is going all in by giving some previews of the weapons used by various characters from this beloved galaxy far, far away.
