It all started with a car battery. My car was acting up, starting sluggishly. My fiancé at the time, Ted, recommended taking it to the place where I had purchased the battery. He came along for moral support and since, frankly, sometimes women are taken advantage of when it comes to car maintenance. The man at the counter said that he would check it, but that it would take some time – between 45 and 60 minutes. Ted then pointed to an establishment next door and asked me, “Have you eaten there?” I shook my head, “No, not since they’ve changed hands. That building has had several restaurants since I moved here.” There were no chairs to sit in at the auto store, so we decided to try it out.

If you have ever been to Colorado, New Mexico, or the surrounding area, odds are you know the absolute magic of hatch green chili. You can't find this heavenly salsa anywhere else. And, no restaurant in all of Colorado does green chili better than Santiago's.
"Local Kine" Sherberts and Sorbets
Would you stand in line for over two hours for sherbert?* Would you wake up early on a Sunday morning and stand in line for over an hour before the sherbert shop opens just to make sure that you get your treats before the shop sells out of your favorites?
Comfort Food
My favourite place to eat, Dae Bark, is a hole in the wall that makes my favourite spicy soup and a wide range of great food that I rarely look at. The Kinchee Jiggae (spicy pickled cabbage and beef soup) with a few great twists is my favourite. As a man who once tipped 250kg or 550 pounds on the scale I know food!

Stevia Is The New Sugar
What is stevia? Stevia (aka Stevia rebaudiana) is a natural sweetener and a part of the chrysanthemum plant family, which is a subgroup of the Asteraceae family (aka ragweed family). Stevia is home Brazil and Paraguay, and is also cultivated in two other Asian countries like China and Japan. People have utilized leaves from the stevia bush to sweeten foods for many years. here's a huge discrepancy between the stevia that you purchase from multiple food stores and the stevia that you harvest in your home.

It is interesting when you ask someone what is their favorite restaurant, what you learn about their personality. All my friends like to be able to talk without shouting. They enjoy socializing with the staff and each other. Some though prefer a more pretentious environment. While others want a relaxed community, down-to-earth setting. I tend to like both. I usually dress so that a flip of a coin I can go either way. But I have learned what kind of restaurant each friend prefers. I learned through trial and error. Once I made a mistake and took one friend for pizza. Her only comment was "They need to decorate the walls more" No opinion on the pizza, just the interior decorating. I never took her back there. We tried another pizza place -The Loop. This one she felt was too expensive for what you got. I think we discussed the chairs. I had wished I could buy two. Usually, I let her pick the restaurant The environment at the Loop is pretty plain, but I often run into people I know when I go there. In my opinion, it is a community restaurant even though it is not that personable. One of its strong points is the busboy. He has been there for years. He is friendly and will remember you if you come in a lot. A lot of families eat there. It usually isn't too loud, unless there is a birthday party. For other friends, the Loop is decorated alright, but the high turnover does not blend enough into their perception of a community restaurant. Again it is too expensive for what you get. Everybody seems to enjoy their interaction with the busboy.

Celia looked down at the text on her phone from her older sister, Monica, as she was strolling to her café in downtown Portsmouth, New Hampshire. She carefully moved along over the cobblestone sidewalks keeping her face mask up and looking at her phone. She knew it was not safe to walk and text, but hell nothing was safe these days. The bag of groceries she was carrying was becoming heavy as the plastic bag was pulling on her wrist. Monica was debating whether to get the vaccine as she was in the next round of eligibility. Celia’s brother in-law, Monica’s husband, was against the vaccine but her sister, always undecided, wanted Celia’s opinion. “Up to you” was Celia’s ambivalent reply as she put the key into her door of her café which had been closed for two months. She was not trying to sound indifferent, but she was so done with this whole pandemic, and the life that was now this “new normal!” She sent Monica a smiley emoji and texted “Got to go!”

Small Town Gem
This little hidden gem is located in Burrton, Kansas. The population is around a thousand people, give or take a few. It's located approximately forty miles northwest of Wichita, Kansas. Kansas, the place that everyone likes to make references to The Wizard of Oz. I hate to burst anyone's bubble, but it was actually filmed in Oklahoma. Just a little fun fact for you. There really is no place like home. The Barn will make you feel like you are at home eating a home cooked meal on a Sunday afternoon. This quaint and country themed restaurant will leave your taste buds speechless with their amazing chicken fried steak. It just doesn't get any better than that. They have mouthwatering steaks, country fried appetizers, chicken, pork chops, burgers, and many tasty sides to choose from. The atmosphere is cozy, warm, and friendly. When you walk in the door, you are greeted with warm and friendly smiles. Their warm and welcoming smiles are just the beginning of the impressive experience that you are about to encounter. The waiting area has rustic painted benches with rustic decor hanging on the walls. As you enter the restaurant itself, a warm and cozy feeling fills your heart and makes you smile. The smells that your nose encounters are heavenly. The decor is a mixture of rustic, antique, and country all rolled into one. From the barn wood walls to the grain bin that has been converted into a bar, the uniqueness of this restaurant is flattering. The old rustic signs that hang on the walls are a reminder of the "good ole days". From the light fixtures to the hard wood floors, everything is spectacular. There are two large barn doors that open up to the outside for different occasions. They have a few televisions to watch sporting events. Kansans like their food, their beer, and their football. If you bring all of that and put tasty food into the mix, then you are successful at winning the hearts of a Kansan.
