Julia NikolausPublished about a year ago in FeastFlourless Chocolate cake
My partner is an actor. Often - before Covid - he would perform in smaller venues. In fact he often performed in very intimate venues such as private homes. You do not get much more intimate than a performance at a private home! One of his last performances, took place on Victoria Day. And, to mark the occaission, he asked me to make one of his mother's recipes - a flourless chocolate cake. It turned out amazing and the other day, I stumbled across the recipe again. And, thought I would post it here for you to enjoy as much as we did.

Nutrionex FoodsPublished about a year ago in FeastDionysus Food & Wine Bar
Dionysus Food & Wine Bar in Greenwood Village, CO restaurant review. A new wine bar concept is in town! This restaurant in South Denver takes wine tasting to a whole new level. Named after the Greek god of wine and pleasure, Dionysus Food & Wine Bar has over 200 wines from all over the world to choose from and they’ll give you a card for you to choose & pour your own wine. The prices are shown above each wine and you can choose the size of your pour. They range from a $12 glass of wine to more than $50 for a 6 ounce pour. Insert your card and place your glass below the spout of the wine you choose. Press the button next to the size of pour you’d like. Watch your wine glass fill up and the amount is added to your card. At the end of your meal you give it to your server who will then add it to the rest of your tab. It’s a fun and interactive way to try new wines! They also have a full bar and I really enjoyed their Espresso Martini.
Candies LiuPublished about a year ago in FeastWhen you don't care about Christmas
Decorate the halls with lots of tinsel fa-la-la la-la la la la la Or something like that... right? The thing is, I don't celebrate Christmas. Why? Because I'm Jewish. This seems like a pretty valid reason, yet the world is still screaming "Merry Christmas" in one ear and overplayed (yet catchy) jingles in the other.

Although the thick, deep-fried Oreos/deep-fried Twinkies, which combine sweet and savory flavors, may not be the healthiest treat, it is acceptable to indulge in them occasionally because they taste so great and are so simple to create.
Crumbs Carnival treatsPublished about a year ago in FeastCalifornia Dreaming
This time of year is usually reserved for comfort foods - rich, filling, and warm. However, this dish takes me back to the coast of California, where my girlfriend lives aboard her yacht in Marina Del Rey. She is smart, scrappy and is also a naturally good chef. So good, in fact, that she was requested as a private, personal chef on a charter where the chef had unfortunately been diagnosed with COVID-19. She was in the midst of getting her captain's license, so was in easy contact with the desperate captain but hey, what an opportunity! The beautiful thing is we had a behind the scenes view of the menu as it came together and, on her return, hosted a celebratory meal with friends that featured some of those dishes. I am always curious to watch her at work, somehow managing to never look frazzled or inconvenienced while operating in her tight galley kitchen. Every meal feels like it is produced in a five-star Michelin restaurant.
Thyme Carrots
There are some vegetables that are synonymous with Autumn. No, I am not talking about Pumpkin. Carrots, in my own humble opinion, are a great vegetable to eat year round but, especially in the fall. I suppose it may be the orange colouring but carrots have always reminded me of fall.
