Food for brain health

Oatmeal topper is the very much perfect topper. We should prioritize our brain health with the passage of growing age. In the United States, the number of people with dementia is increasing, partly because life expectancy is increasing.

Nut cracker

In the United States, 22% of adults aged 85 to 89 years have dementia, and 33% of adults aged 90 and over have been diagnosed with dementia. While we can't control the fate of our health completely, scientific research shows that certain foods are associated with brain health. (The reverse is also true: Certain foods are associated with higher risk of cognitive decline and dementia.) Numerous scientific studies show that the best diet for brain health is leafy greens. Eating a plant-based diet rich in leafy greens, other vegetables, nuts and seeds, berries, legumes, whole grains, fish, poultry, and olive oil is good for brain health. If this seems very different to your current diet, it may be beneficial to change your diet in small increments rather than trying to change everything at once. I am not sure where to start? A Neurologist Dr. Shae Datta, MD, co-director of NYU Langone's Concussion Center, says there's one brain-healthy diet she recommends above all else. It's walnut.

Why Walnuts Are Good for Brain Health "Walnuts provide twice the antioxidants of other nuts," explains Dr.Shae. Why are these, her favorite brain food? They're shaped like a brain, she notes. In addition being rich in antioxidants, she notes, walnuts are also rich in alpha-linolenic acid, a plant-derived omega Her-3 fatty acid. (ALA) is an excellent source. Dr. Datta says that both antioxidants and (ALA) omega-3 fatty acids have been linked to fighting inflammation and

oxidative stress and preventing cognitive decline. Registered dietitian Julie Andrews also says walnuts are beneficial for brain health. “Walnuts are rich in vitamins E and B.

Studies show that vitamins and omega-3 fatty acids are good for brain health through metabolic function, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects," she says.

How often should you eat walnuts to really support your brain? She suggests five one ounce servings of nuts in a week. “Walnuts are especially beneficial for their omega-3 fatty acid and antioxidant content, making them a top choice for nuts," she says. There are certainly many ways to incorporate walnuts into your diet. It can be enjoyed on its own, but it can also be used to add nutty flavor and crunch to salads, curries, stir-fries, and salad wraps, and add texture to desserts. ," she says. You can use walnut flour as base to prepare baked items such as breads, muffins and cakes.

What about nut allergies? Walnuts are beneficial for brain health, but not everyone likes them, and some people are allergic to walnuts. If this applies to you, don't worry. There are so many other brain- healthy foods available, you can choose one instead of seeds and berries. Whether you eat walnuts or opt for nuts and berries instead, it's important to eat a variety of nutrient-dense foods, says Andrews. Topping your oatmeal with walnuts in the morning won't make up for the rest of the day when you're eating nutrient-poor foods. "The key is to include a variety of nutritious foods, with an emphasis on foods that contain vitamin E, B vitamins, omega-3 fatty acids, and flavonoids," says Andrews. Andrews explains that flavonoids are natural compounds of phytochemicals found in plant foods with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. These encompass berries, tea, cocoa, soybeans, legumes, a few fruits, greens, and herbs. There isn't any certain method to save you from dementia. However, you can take proactive steps to support brain health through your daily diet. Now that we know the exact method, let's move on. One can try brain health supplements.
