Transformation
The stifling summer heat made my brother's suggestion of exploring the forest irresistible. A carpet of needles and rotting leaves beneath our feet, we threaded our way through pine, maple, and sourwood trees as some long-forgotten instinct drew us toward a stream teeming with frogs, snakes, crawdads, and freshwater eels. Walking along the banks of the shallow creek following its languidly moving current we came to the mouth of a narrow canyon. Here Mother Nature had brought individually insignificant drops of rain together using their collective power to carve a pathway through a slab of stone. Periodic flood waters paying homage to her power left gifts of debris lodged against the sides of the miniature gorge over the years where they became a permanent subtext to human extravagance.

When You Have Lost That Special Christmas Spirit
You're familiar with the sensation. That sigh as you snuggle on the couch with a Hallmark movie, the sparkle over all the activities, that small jump in your tummy at a fantastic light show, that sigh as you snuggle on the couch with a Hallmark movie That Christmassy feeling.

The Real Me On Turtle Island
I was putting together a mobile to use at a talk I was presenting at. My grandson helped me make it. There were 4 people on the mobile. I wanted to demonstrate how we are all effected by each other in a family, community or the country, no matter if it is addiction, or happy occasions. And how we will be effected throughout our life, even if we do not realize it. He wanted to make the mobile with a turtle. When I said that was a great idea as in our creation stories, we are told this country is on the back of a turtle. He liked the story and was even more excited about helping me.

What is Christmas to you?
Each of us has a personal passion for this holiday. We know and feel something magical, for sure, when we think of Christmas. Everyone could tell many stories that happened in time, from this magical period, certain emotions being related to the smell, the cold or the immaculate white of the snow, the warmth of the houses and the love of those around.

Returning to a Golden State
I am an immigrant to the strange state of Connecticut, even though I’ve lived here for over a decade. Sometimes, I don’t know how to react to people who make assumptions about me — about my background, my race, my kids, my job, my interests. I feel like a foreigner when searching out those who have a similar background to mine, because I seldom find any hapa who were raised with the Asian side of their family, like I was in California.

How I broke the cycle of abuse aged 25.
When I was twelve I had a sleep over at my friends house and her Mom gave us biscuits and painted our nails whilst we watched a film. I sobbed because I wanted a Mom like that. I wanted warm hugs and sympathetic eyes, I wanted to feel loved and valued.

Taxi Ride
June 1972, Tokyo. I can’t believe I overslept. Moving day. Of all days to oversleep! Transient beings that we are, we all move, right? But concern for my personal well-being and safety these last few months prompted my move. I spent this week at the Tanabe’s in Harajuku. I glance at the wristwatch from my dad. Time. Will I be able to make it there ON TIME?

The Pink Elephant in the Room
The working world has drastically changed since the last time I was a member of the traditional 8 to 5 scene over ten years ago. I had no idea that when I quit to raise my kids that it would be the end of my career in human resources - permanently. What was supposed to only be a break from working full-time to raise my children for a few years, while my husband (now ex) worked to pay the bills, became a lifelong journey of self-discovery full of plot twists and crazy turns, including an unexpected divorce.

The Old Man's Mine
When he got out of his bed, the cold of the North Sea cottage invaded everything. When the wool was pulled off, the warm bed chilled, and he had to move fast. With the customary sigh he began his day covered from head to toe. Not just when he went to sleep, but all the time. Head with the ever-present beanie (even when sleeping), toes with a double pair of wool socks (also when sleeping), underclothes from the wool under-sweater to the wool over-sweater, and lastly his inside tweed jacket. And shoes, always shoes for the tamped earth below that reminded him he was alive.

What specifically makes LeanBelly 3X the best supplement of its kind
While there are 28 different CLA types (or, isomers), in nature, the most important isomer is cis-9, trans-11 (c9,t11). When it comes to a toning supplement, however, there are two isomers critical for maximum effectiveness and benefits. Both the c9,t11 isomer mentioned and the trans-10, cis-12 (t10,c12) isomer, and both need to be provided in equal amounts to experience the synergistic effects that contribute to provide CLA benefits.†

Violent Motivation
All my life there had been this ache inside of me for love I’d never received from my father. How on Earth was it possible that the man who was partially responsible for my existence wanted virtually nothing to do with me? In the beginning as a little girl I would write letters to him with nowhere to send them. I begged for my father to love me on paper he would never see. As I got older, I built a wall of protection around my heart. I'd act like none of it bothered me. I’d talk down on him, constantly saying how much I couldn't care less if he descended off the face of the Earth. Deep down though, I cared so much.
