I am a grandma of three; I enjoy hiking, reading, cooking and Halloween. I mainly enjoy historical and horror films or books. I also enjoy exploring old sites and taking pictures.
Only Accountants Can Save The World
Everyone should be encouraged to follow their passions and be supported in them. When you do this, I believe it makes your life much richer and those around you as well. It makes for a happier life because you feel more fulfilled and receive enjoyment from what you are doing. If you're more involved, you always grow and learn from what you're doing regardless of your path.
Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park
My last hike to Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park was in August 2020. This is a short drive from Calgary if you live around here and right next door to Cochrane. I went on one of the trails that I haven't hiked before and discovered new (or rather old) delights along the way. I always like the feel around Cochrane. I get a feeling of comfort there for some reason.
Brown-Lowery Provincial Park
Since Covid-19 made its appearance in 2019, many changes continue to be made to our everyday world. We recently heard on the news that Kananaskis Country will now be placing a fee for visiting there, and you can pay either by the day or buy a yearly pass. This is if the Land Amendments Act (Bill 64) passes which it probably will. Right now the fees don't seem to be a large amount; but as we know once the hooks are in, they only grow. I have always used the mountains as my escape from the city and harshness of city life, and last year went hiking weekly from June till November, so this news was not the most welcome I've ever heard.
Kolchak and Kodak
I got my first camera when I was a kid, and my first role model for a photographer was Kolchak: The Night Stalker. As far as I remember he always had his camera and recorder with him on his investigations as a newspaper reporter. He wasn't really a photographer, but he used his camera to take shots while researching amazing stories that were not always what they seemed. This appealed to me greatly at my young age.
Gourmet and Ghosts
Food, sustenance, grub - whatever you want to call it - we all have to have it. This is one need that we can spice up or down to our tastes. I love all different types of foods which seems to be odd considering I grew up in a meat and potatoes home. I didn't really know the different types of cuisines until I got a bit older. When I was growing up here in Calgary, I don't remember many restaurants being around other than the White Spot that used to be across from the Knox United Church downtown (see last article attached for more ghostly info) and of course some restaurants in the city's Chinatown.
Everyday I get up and say it will be a great day. That is how I wake up and how I go to sleep. I think even if the day doesn't go as planned or is a bit rocky, it doesn't mean it was a bad day as I used to believe. Back when I was young, I used to make plans for everyday, and I think that contributed to the anxiety I used to feel then as well. Nowadays I still have to pull myself back from over planning everything because that seems to be my nature, but I have to say I don't have anxiety like I did in the past. I think planning is important to an extent, but I also think that things that are meant for you will be yours, so I have learned to have balance and patience.
Over the years I've spent many hours in thrift stores for various reasons. I've gone there out of necessity as well as being environmentally conscious and trying to make less of a footprint on our earth. In my mind there are many things you can buy used and still get what you need from them. One of the other reasons I have gone also is just being social with my friends. It seems funny but friends go out shopping together and so there's no difference I feel in shopping at a thrift store aka the treasure store.
Martin's Dream Date
Athena was looking at her emails to see if she had heard anything back from user name: Handsome Man 2020 and so far there was nothing. She wondered if she would hear from him. She thought back to their chat on the LookingforLove website, and how he sounded like the perfect man for her. His pictures didn't look too bad either. They had been chatting for a couple of months; and the more they chatted, the more she wanted to meet this almost too good to be true man.
