TEA CUPS AND ROSES
It was my closest friend of 47 years, to be exact, who first mentioned my mother's hands. We were enjoying afternoon tea as she commented "Look at those hands, aren't they amazing. I know them so well and they are always there, for support! don't you agree?" and we both laughed joyously as we knew this was so true.

Chained Up to a Memory
What is memory? How it affects us, and why do we have it? Does it stay or after time becomes transparent? This question has no exact answer. Memory can bring a smile into a face or tears and pain to the person. It can hold you in either way if it is a burst of sunshine like a moment or coldest and deepest fear. How does it happen? The main answer is fear. When past days were too good, we are afraid that it will never be the same. It makes us feel depressed, hopeless and filled with sour fear. Also, when the past has been cold and dark, we are afraid to feel it again. My mother has taught me how to get rid of the chains and cliffs of the past. Get ready to dive into the memory of mine.

My Dear Mum
My mum she stood 5 foot 10., 165 pounds, I grew up in Brooklyn NY in an area known as "Little Sicily" my dad was Italian You would think. That this woman would not be very agile. But yet she managed to always be in my face when I least expected it. My mom was loving and kind. And I was her only child. However, I was not ever spoiled. You know how they say, spare the rod and spoil the child and how they always say that the only child is a spoiled child. Not in this house. There are times that I remember. when I didn't do as I was told to do. It always seemed that she came from out of nowhere to make sure. She disciplined me.

Hello, Kim Fancy Seeing You Here.
Hey mom, Thank you for everything. I miss you more and more every day (even though I could walk two steps and see you.) First off, what is the definition of a mom? The purpose of a mother is a woman who gives birth or who has the responsibility of physical and emotional care for specific children. An example of a mother is a woman who has just given birth to twins (my sister and I are twins, so double the trouble on my mother's part.)

Curly
Soapy Consequences I will never forget the taste of that dirty bar of soap my mother used to wash my mouth with after I stuck my tongue out at her in a childish act of rebellion against doing the dishes. She scrubbed that dirty bar, the one she used to wash those dishes, so passionately across my tongue that when she was finally finished scrubbing and removed the bar of soap from my mouth, the bar was no longer white, but red. My tongue was numb and I couldn't taste anything for two days.

Sit Quietly and Listen
My mom told me a story I had never heard before about the day I was born. She had had a difficult C-section delivery and was still feeling faint and disorientated. The doctor held me up over the curtain so my mother could see the “fruit of her labor”, (her words, not mine). She said my eyes darted back and forth wildly around the room until she felt herself gasp. She said once I heard her gasp, I recognized her voice, made eye contact, and stared at the first love of my life. Her first thought? “What a stupid looking baby.” She wasn’t wrong. I can imagine with my large bug eyes, mouth slightly agape I reminded her of a small catfish, freshly caught. I was certainly not the delicate flower she had envisioned I would be and at 19” long and 6lbs 7oz, I was “solid” was the word I believe she used.

A Question and A Cocktail
The Question Every month we are answering one of your parenting questions. Why? Well because Motherhood and parenting is hard. But a lot of the time we don’t tend to know what other mothers are going through and therefore we can feel alone in certain situations. This is our way of telling you what worked for us. Our way is by no means the best way… but we home that our experience can help you to discover what works best for you and your children.
