A Question and A Cocktail

Enjoy!

The Question

Every month we are answering one of your parenting questions. Why? Well because Motherhood and parenting is hard. But a lot of the time we don’t tend to know what other mothers are going through and therefore we can feel alone in certain situations. This is our way of telling you what worked for us. Our way is by no means the best way… but we home that our experience can help you to discover what works best for you and your children.

Here is Mays question.

Q: My 19month old son has suddenly turned

very picky with his food, hardly eating anything.

Do you have any tips or advice for this?

Laura’s answer:

This can be so frustrating but rest assured it is completely normal. My top 3 tips for dealing with picky eating are: 1) Give them a choice between two foods you know they like. This will make them feel like they have some control over what they eat. Show them pictures of the food and let them pick if they are not yet at the talking stage. 2) Have a plate of picky foods in an easily accessible place so that they can choose when they want to eat. Chopped veggies, breadsticks or anything that can be prepared quickly and left for a few hours are great for this. 3) Look at what they eat over a week rather than a day. You will probably see they have days they are eating one type of food and the next will be completely different. It's a great way to understand how they eat and can cut down your worry that they're not getting enough nutrients.

Charlotte's answer:

Gosh, do I wish I had a solid answer for this question. This has been one of the things I have stressed about the most. Personally, I would say just keep offering food for him to try and don’t beat yourself up about it. My mum always tells me that “if they are hungry, they will eat!” So I try and live by these words now. Because when you think about it it’s true. You’ll eat anything if your hungry enough... veggies anyone??

The Cocktail

Summer is well and truly on the way and what screams summer more than sipping a delicious cocktail in the sun? Today we are sharing a delicious cocktail created by The Elmer from Kent, UK. Charlotte personally got to try this summery little number and thought it was absolutely delicious. In fact she could quite easily sip on this daily throughout the day everyday if she didn’t have a small child to look after. Enjoy!

The Elmer Colada
