Humorous Tale of The Cookie Dough Bandits
You might agree there are a lot of things siblings can look back on throughout their lives to which they feel anger, sadness, or pure joy. I'm fortunate to have a great relationship with my older sister Chavi. So usually we're laughing about something. We may be happily married adults living in different states now but it doesn't stop me from occasionally shading her cookie dough eating abilities. It was a moment of pressure and one of us delivered.

Age 8 Just then we heard a commotion outside and ran to the window. It was a fight, but because where my grandmother lived was considered the ghetto a fight wasn't unusual. We went out to the front porch ,because we were on the top level, to see who it was.

3rd Grade
I would not say that I had too many traumatic experiences throughout my childhood. I was a very content child that enjoyed spending time with my friends and family. I loved going to school every day to learn something new. In my family, I often got spoiled by my parents, grandpa, aunts and uncles, and even family friends. I always felt safe and happy. During this time, my mom and dad did drink. My mother was an alcoholic, but she was always a good mother to me and my brother. She used to ask me to pray that one day she will stop drinking because she wanted to be better. I took what she said to heart and I prayed every night. However, that is beside the point. My mom and dad had quite a few close friends that often came around and hung out with us. My parents trusted these friends with everything because they were like family. Never once did we fear or suspect things of them. Little did we know, the people who are closest to you, are the very ones that can harm you. I learned that in 3rd grade and this is my story.

A Thankful Sister
What am I most thankful for this holiday season? My brother! Many of you have been following the stories of the devastating fires across the United States. Two fires in particular hit very close to home for me. In my home state of Colorado, the Cameron Peak Fire and the East Troublesome fire raged simultaneously creating a very devastating threat to the tourist town of Estes Park, where my brother and his beautiful family live. While we watched the Cameron Peak fire closely, it was a much more deadly fire that was just on the horizon. The East Troublesome fire swooped in fast causing my family to have to evacuate quickly. Soon after, it was threatening their very neighborhood with emergency crews camped one block over!

Reign for A Day
"Just another day I suppose" Luna proclaimed, while staring out the window. As she looked at the dismal sky of gray, rain began falling from the sky as thunder crashed and lightening struck or so it seemed. Dressed in a red t-shirt a cropped pair of blue jean shorts and black new balance sneakers her day couldn't have been going any better. She walked to the door, squeezed the knob and pulled. As the door gave way you could hear it creek. The sound of the rain dropping heavy drops of putter potter putter potter did not seem to keep her from exiting the house and running right into the rain. Thunder crashed "yip yip yooray" she exclaimed! "Let there be rain". As she danced along the sidewalk manicured with beautiful holly shrubs, and Narcissa trees an older gentleman driving a green Beatle Volkswagen slowed along and screamed out of his window "You only live once"!

The New Holiday Celebrations
That special part of the year has finally arrived for us so we can close it out in a big way. The smell of all the food that has been prepared with love, the smell of cinammon and nutmeg hanging in the air. The joy and excitement of getting together with our family to reminisce about childhood memories and the things that we THINK that our parents don’t know.

We Chose To Stop At One Child
Last year, there was one kid in my daughter’s class who didn’t have siblings. Mine. I don’t think the teacher realized this. But when they would talk about playing or home life, they often talked about their brothers and sisters. My kid would come home and ask when she would have one. She would talk about wanting one, I think, mainly because her friends all had one.
