The FBI's 10 Most Wanted list now includes an alleged gang member suspected of the Sylmar murder. (KABC) Los Angeles As a result of a 2019 homicide, an alleged gang member from the San Fernando Valley is now on the FBI's Most Wanted list. Omar Alexander Cardenas, 27, is thought by authorities to have left the country, possibly for Mexico. They are hoping that by listing him among the "Ten Most Wanted Fugitives," he will attract new interest and eventually be apprehended. Additionally, a $100,000 reward is being offered. Jabali Dumas was allegedly shot by Cardenas on August 15, 2019, at the Hair Icon Barber Shop in Sylmar.

Approximately 30 feet in front of Dumas, Cardenas stopped and fired nine shots, according to Chief Michel Moore of the Los Angeles Police Department. "The victim was struck in the head by one of them, falling to the ground face forward and passing away there. Cardenas was observed driving away from that spot as he fled." It is unknown how or if the victim and suspect were acquainted. In April 2020, after Cardenas was accused of murder, a warrant for his arrest was issued.

Later, the LAPD discovered that he had left the area, and in September 2021, a federal arrest warrant was issued. And the FBI doesn't think it will stay there for very long. 93% of the time, the agency is successful in finding their man. Cardenas is now the 528th person to have appeared on the FBI's Top 10 list since it was first compiled in 1950.

The agency found or detained 492 of the 527 people who had previously been on the list. Cardenas has gone by the moniker "Dollar" and is thought to be a member of the Pierce Street gang, though he may also be connected to the "Pacoima Van Nuys Boys" or the "Anybody Killas" gang. Anyone with information about Cardenas is urged to contact their local FBI office or the tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI.
