My Most Embarrassing Night As An Officer Because Of Taco Bell!
This happened to me in the late nineties and was at the time an extremely embarrassing experience. So hey, let's share! Work had been stressing me out and I just wasn't sleeping with a damn that week. Not that it's an excuse, but I'm painting the picture and giving some context. I got off work at noon on Saturday. Being a single parent I had a seven-year-old that had spent two days with my parents I was so busy. Right after work, I went to pick up my son and we went for lunch. Back then I had an affinity for quick and easy lunches so we picked up the mighty, Taco Bell. I had two burritos and four tacos. I bought extra to throw in the microwave before work because my plan was to stay awake until seven and then take my son to my folks' house for the night. One more night before my weekend began was all I could think of that day.

I spent the entire summer looking for a job, and finally received a call from a major bank for a full-time, floating teller position. Of course, I accepted the offer and was given information on when and where to show up for training. I was expecting your typical on-the-job training, but no; this financial institution had its own training center that I was scheduled to attend for three weeks. Let me tell you about one of the most embarrassing moments of my life, that made them send me straight to a local branch after my first three days at the training center.

I have a 'Thing' for shoes. A lot of my friends do as well. There are usually five or six pair of heels under my desk at the office. I have a small mirror near my desk to check how my shoes look before I go to meetings, or anywhere really. A few weeks ago I noticed the mirror was moved a few feet from it's normal place. I chalked it up to the cleaning crew that comes in in the evenings.

If you’ve scrolled through TikTok lately, you’ve probably seen a dark-haired lady clapping as she demands women to be polite to men who hit on them, along with replies from hundreds of other TikTokers advising you against this. I can only speak to my own experiences, but I was polite to a man who hit on me and I ended up getting fired for it.

I'm having a string of bad luck. My printer/scanner/copier died last weekend, and I have over eighty pages I need to print by this coming Sunday. Last Saturday, I fell up the stairs of the church at my cousin's wedding straight into the preacher, who thankfully caught me. My homeowners insurance nearly doubled this year, and I had to scramble to find another company before my mortgage payment increased by $155.00 a month. All of that is discouraging, but Tuesday took the cake.

He had beautiful hands, and goddamn it all to hell, beautiful hands always get me. They're nice when they're pointing, they're nice when they're twirling a pen, they're nice for a whole lot of things.

We all know working at a hotel can be very exciting. What's not to love? I work in a beautiful resort that isn't a casino. Not only that, but it's a timeshare! So that means I get to know so many different types of families, cultures, and organizations. Who wouldn't want to be a part of that? One of the things people who work at a hotel don't tell you, is that no day is the same. Everyday is different because you see different people, have different conversations, and even the problems are jam packed of varieties.

So I've been here a couple of months, and when I joined I was honestly led to believe that Vocal had a strong reader base. So when I got few if any readers I just figured it was the same problem I'd had throughout my entire writing career: no matter how professional or how much I hyped it up, I could not pay strangers, family, or friends to read what I wrote. Eventually even my trusty editors became too busy. It wasn't Vocal, it was my continued curse of being the writer who was never read.

It happened again. If you remember my article about being left in parking lots, you'll know I've been put into some sticky situations. Well the other day, after weeks of convincing, I did an outcall just to be abandoned outside of a apartment building thirty minutes from where I live, in the middle of the night.
