Buff Bluff
We were living in unit one on the basement level of our building in a suburban apartment complex. Once a year management would have the floors buffed and shined; not the stained, tile floors inside the apartments, but the ones in the foyer that could be seen by those wishing to land an apartment and move in. Whenever this time of the year rolled around (usually summertime), each tenant would receive notification in order that they may not utilize the hallways between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. This would give maintenance time to strip, buff, wax and dry the floors without having to redo anything because of unwanted footprints.

PLEASE Open Up...
I spent the entire summer looking for a job, and finally received a call from a major bank for a full-time, floating teller position. Of course, I accepted the offer and was given information on when and where to show up for training. I was expecting your typical on-the-job training, but no; this financial institution had its own training center that I was scheduled to attend for three weeks. Let me tell you about one of the most embarrassing moments of my life, that made them send me straight to a local branch after my first three days at the training center.

AND THE WINNER IS...
There is a woman whom I have befriended for over 20 years, that is absolutely, positively, infallibly without a doubt terrified at the sight of any living bird. If you think I’m joking I’ll tell you this about one of her experiences: she once missed a two hour church service because she refused to exit her vehicle; birds were on a lawn nearby minding their own business, enjoying a birdbath. For a long time, I never understood this phobia of hers. When asked why so fearful of fowls she usually responds, “I just don’t understand how something we eat talks, holds itself in the air just by spreading its wings, and so much more. They’re creepy and are able to do way too much to not be an actual person.” Well, after having the encounter I am about to share with you all, I couldn’t agree more. Now, I too, am afraid of birds. It took one encounter with a hawk to change my entire outlook on these feathered creatures.

Mo's Dilemma
The one thing I really enjoyed about the apartment complex where I raised my three children (Che, Moe, and Lily) for 17 years was that it was multicultural and very diverse. My children had the best circle of friends, and they often shared time, stories, toys, games, etc. with each other; and you could witness the love among them just from watching them play or hang out together.

They're Taking It!
THEY’RE TAKING IT! A Funny Car Chase of a Different Kind Since I had a rental car for the weekend, I decided to drive around to various car dealerships to look at cars I could possibly purchase. After all, I had not owned a vehicle in almost seven years. I combed through several different car flyers looking for dealerships with decent cars, as well as affordable prices. I found three located within less than a mile from each other; and less than 6 miles from the mall which I planned to shop at briefly before heading back home.

THE DREAM
I had only one plan for the day: to take a power nap. Well, I did, and I had a dream that changed my life. In the dream, I found myself in the dark, standing in what I imagined to be the very center of a large, empty piece of land. After standing in the same spot for quite a bit of time, I glanced over my right shoulder and something had been added to the scene. I turned and saw a hole in a fence leading to where I was. On the opposite side of the hole was a well-lit street that looked really busy. It explained the gallon of milk in my right hand, and a small black notebook with a rubber band around it, in my left. Infallibly, without a doubt, I knew that I was lost.
