Product Review: Brow Harmony Flexible Lifting Gel

Hello and Happy Spring!

Most of the time I don't do much with my eyebrows. I wanted to try Rare Beauty's brow lifting gel as soon as I saw an IG post last summer. I love Rare Beauty already. I have a small eyeshadow palette and a lipstick that my best friend got for me a couple of years ago. But lately I've been absolutely digging the brushed up laminated brow look that's currently in. I don't think it's one that will go away anytime soon. I think it enhances your natural eyebrows so nicely, looking nicely groomed in a sense but without adding much.

I've been growing out my brows over the past few years and they are finally getting full again which is really exciting because I lived through the late 90s and 2000s, where all of us plucked our eyebrows so thin and therefore, many peoples' haven't grown back since.

Cheers to having (almost) bushy caterpillar eyebrows again! Isn't it funny how times and trends change just like that?

What's in it?

Full ingredients include:

Water/Aqua/Eau, Ceteareth-30, Ammonium Acrylates Copolymer, Panthenol, VP/VA Copolymer, 1,2-Hexanediol, Propanediol, Glycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Isopropyl Alcohol, Dipropylene Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Citric Acid.

Product is Cruelty Free, Paraben Free, Vegan, Waterproof, and Ophthalmologist tested.

My Review Rating

Feel 5/5 - Excellent. Soft and flexible, yet firm once you have it glued. No itchy or dry white flakes once dry. Light weight and clear.

Hold 5/5 - Originally I thought it froze great. I would say though if you don't put enough gel to "glue" or "laminate" on the skin, it may not hold well enough. My eyebrows are harder to tame because they are thick, long and curled hairs (thanks mom!), by the end of the day, I can tell when my eyebrows didn't fully stay put.

Application 4/5 - The product itself has a lovely little spool that fits brows well. The downfall for me was that it’s very easy to overdo. My tip is to brush your eyebrows first and get them in place before you touch the gel brush to them. Sometimes I will scrape off the wand to apply less of the gel. Every now and then I'll also need to fully redo if it becomes too much. I will note though that this does not dry white (unless excess gel is left to dry on skin, be sure to wipe it off!).

My overall rating is 4.6/5. I think it’s such a great brow gel, but to be fair, it’s also my first. I love the finished look we are achieving and this product does that. In conclusion to that, I do think the spool collects excess gel, so just be careful how much you apply.

Things I love: Lightweight, achieves laminated look and keeps an overall strong hold, no white flakes, awesome tiny size to take anywhere. Also, it doesn't hurt that these are Cruelty Free and Vegan.

Things I don't love: The spool can collect excess gel, easy to overlaminate

I recommend to anybody interested in trying. They are $17 online on from Sephora or the Rare Beauty website. Why not, right?
