I wish I was a soprano or even a musician. Someone who has magic at their fingertips. Alas the only magic I seem to have is the ability of the written word, and writing fiction has always been my favorite pastime. People often think that writers have to get into the mood to write, but with how long I've been writing, I know that the opposite is true. There's always a story at the tip of my tongue or fingertips. I have been known to weave a tale during Christmastime for my nieces whose favorite pastime is getting me to tell them a story. Or to look at a quote online, a writing prompt, and immediately have a fictional story with a believable middle and end, if not beginning.

“Love will tear us apart, Joy Division.” Talia said to Mya as they stood in line at the cafe. “Self destructive love, I like it. Added.” Mya tapped her index finger on her phone.
Not Your Valentine
What is love - Haddaway This is the song that is the beginning of everything. We want love but we don't want to get hurt as we have always been told that love is pain, love hurts and love is hard. This song is literally the prayer of not getting hurt in love - "Please don't be like everyone who played me".

Lets face it; Valentines Day is a nightmare! I mean, why should chocolates and roses and a fancy dinner be a declaration of love to your significant other on this one particular day when you can do those things literally any other day of the year and it'll have an even greater impact because you're not forced by some shoddy marketing campaign to do so, because for some reason, if you don't do those things on February 14th, you are an enormous A-hole.

I have a confession to make... I've been happily married for over 11 years. We met at an all day concert in St. Louis that neither of us had planned on attending. My mom surprised me with a ticket the day before so I could go with my friends; Scott's buddy called him an hour before the concert started and offered him an extra ticket. We were both kids, I was almost 17 and he was 19 years old. He noticed me checking him out and hollered at me to come talk to him. We ended watching the rest of the concert together, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Only a few days away now, the day couples look forward to. I used to be one of them. Lovesick, constantly sending lovey messages. Being on the receiving end of the nickname babe, lover, or even my boo. You're the couple everyone envy's because you are obsessed with your partner. Wrapped in each other's arms or kissing every five seconds. I would have been one of those people, until you broke up with me a few nights ago. I pop in my ear buds and sprawl out on my bed. Scrolling trough my phone I select the playlist, Anti-Valentine's Day. One I had created a while back that comes in handy occasionally. 1. Prisoner (feat. Dua Lipa) by Miley Cyrus plays first.

We all know that Valentine's Day is for the romantic expression of love and affection. Did you know the physical expression of love goes all the way back to the festival of Lupercalia?

If there's someone in your life you're thinking of ditching this Valentine's day, but you're just not sure if you want to go through with it, here's 14 reasons why you probably should. If any of these are true for you, it might be time for you to finally forget them and move on. And since it is the 14th, I picked 14 songs to help you do just that.
Surviving the V-Day Moods
Let's be honest. No one can really prepare you for heartbreak or the emotional roller coaster that comes with it, especially the ones that throw you for a loop in one day. Valentine's Day has always been a polarizing holiday for many. Either you're spending it with a loved one or loathing the love in the air because a) you're nursing a broken heart or b) because you've been single for a while and are starting to accept your life as a cat lady/man. The holiday is certainly cheesy but we end up getting caught up in it anyways. That's okay! We all handle it differently. Perhaps you're like me and just refuse to sit and wallow in self-pity. You want to feel good and focus on ANYTHING else, you deserve that much right?

So, I know that I can be a bit of a drag when it comes to Valentine's day, but maybe it's because... welp, I don't have a significant other, and I really just don't care for the Lover's Holiday. For me, it's my younger sister's Birthday, so that's what I celebrate. Growing up with this Holiday as her birthday at first was a little strange, but I then realize that maybe this isn't so bad. But then, when no one showed up at her Birthday party, that was where I started to hate the holiday. I know it's the "Day of Love", but no one had the time to at least stop by for her Birthday. And even when I moved away from my hometown, away from her to pursue my own dreams, I always felt like Valentine's Day was my sister's Birthday, and even now.

Love comes in many forms. Platonic, familial, romantic. We love our friends, families, and romantic partners in different ways, and it's wonderful.
