Lake of the Living Dead
First there was a virus. Millions of people died with an infection which attacked human brain cells. Symptoms started with an imbalance, people began to fall over, the weak, old and alone suffered as they were unable to get back up after a sudden vertigo-like feeling caused spills down the stairs, heads hit off bathroom sinks, days left alone led on the floor with a broken back or hip and no help from the relatives who had forgotten to check in on them. Another heart-breaking effect of the virus, peoples short-term memories began to vanish, as if erased from the brains hard-drive. Ovens were left unchecked, children forgotten in baths, families left devastated as routine things began to be overlooked.

Party Through the Past!
All Hallow's Eve. Samhain. Halloween. The names of one night dating back centuries, many traditions were lost throughout the years, a few stayed. People would dress as saints and sinners, knock on neighbours doors and sing silly songs, children were passed treats known as "soul cakes". Halloween today is much more embedded in popular culture and celebrated widely with each year many people trying to host the perfect spooky party. Costumes, treats and music have evolved through the decades. If Halloween wasn't enough of a theme for your party, how about an 80's themed Halloween party? Madonna or a white sheet both appropriate costume choices, perhaps recreate Michael Jackson's iconic Thriller video and host 80's zombies at your party.

Tragedy at Pendleton Pond
The cold whipped around Mary but she did not shudder. Focused on the search for her sweet child, she watched on as people skated, how they held on to their loved ones as they glided by. She wore no coat nor hat as she took in the scene, eerily still, she watched. Her memories were disordered and dim as she tried to remember how she got here. An incredible ache in her heart as she waited for her daughter, she would wait here, she told herself. She would wait until the ice has thawed and spring returned, she was sure her child would return too.
