Bio
Writing is a distraction for me. It takes me to places unknown that fulfill my need for intellectual stimulus, emotional release, and a soothing of the breaks and bruises of the day.

A Brief History of "There's a Kind of Hush"
The New Vaudeville Band (1966) The studio group, The New Vaudeville Band, which was assembled by Geoff Stephens, struck gold in the fall of 1966 with their mega-hit "Winchester Cathedral" which was #1 in Australia, Canada, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, and the US. It was also Top 3 in Brazil, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Rhodesia, and the UK. After such a huge hit the pressure was on for a follow-up. Songwriter producer and arranger Geoff Stephens was tasked with the daunting duty. He chose "There's A Kind of Hush" a neo–British Music Hall number with a peppy horn section and bouncy percussion. The expectation was that this polished metropolitan pop number would follow "Winchester Cathedral" into the Top 3. The song did just that when it made it to #2 in South Africa. The only problem is that that was it. The song was a hit in only one other country: Australia where it reached #12.

The Mystery Box Foundation
It is 3:33 p.m. and 33 seconds and like clockwork Ryde's mail has been received. As Ryde scans his mind, he sees the usual white lights flashing which indicates all junk mail. Ryde deletes the flashing white lights and is left with two yellow lights and an interesting purple light. The purple light catches Ryde's attention as he has never received a purple light before. The two yellow lights indicate bills, so he files those into the bill folder. Each bill will pop up 10 minutes before they are due and will automatically be paid.

Celebrate Your Life!!! Recently, I conducted a survey of 155 people asking what their favorite New Wave songs are. I have long been a fan of New Wave music. It started in the summer of 1978 when I bought the single "The Robots" by Kraftwerk. I was into this futuristic thing which began a year earlier with the film Star Wars. This electronic dance tune was the catalyst that helped me branch out into the world of New Wave music.

Diary of a Caregiver: Confession #2
In case you missed it - Click here for Diary of a Caregiver: Confession #1 Preface Before I go on with the situation with my mom. Let's back up a little so I can let everyone briefly know what was going on with me. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in September 2019. This had me shaken at the time I felt like this was the worst thing that had ever happened to me. Due to Covid my treatment was postponed until August/September 2020 at which time I took a Leave of Absence in order to undergo 20 radiation treatments. The radiation treatments were a success. Currently (November 2022) my PSA level is down to .81 from a high of 4.6. My guess is by the fall of 2023 the cancer should be undetectable.
