Have you ever experienced those moments where writing feels like a basket of words that don’t fit together? Or you are playing a game of articulation, but nothing can be articulated? It’s been a long time coming, but over the years I’ve found ways to help launch myself into the write-mindset for the job at hand! Let me share my ideas with you.

The Scarlet Macaw
The air was hot, thick, as it always was. No breeze, yet the density made the area feel cooler. Overtop the shade of the canopies helped soothe from the intensity the heat would bring. This was living. This was home. Seeing the rich, lush green in every direction created the illusion of cooler weather. A satisfying clean and pure air filled Alessa’s lungs. Home. It was like heaven, each of the animals doing their own thing. Exploring and playing, learning, and growing. The sounds of capybaras playing and sloshing around. The sweet hum of birds in the treetops. The giggle of monkeys as branches snapped from parents leaping from one to the next. Yet, no playful squarks from the macaws. No macaw insight. Something was wrong. Peace vanished and fear was instilled. Alessa searched in every direction. Running and touching the land, communing with the trees to find nests. No macaws. Heaviness fell, as she closed her eyes trying to reach out spiritually. Something felt to be watching her. A giant scarlet macaw bigger than life, towering quietly before her. Its wings rested on the ground. Stunning. Without hesitation, a loud “Rrraaaawwwhhhhk” came from the creature. Alessa woke up.

Driving Answers
The sky sprinkled with orange and yellow, except it wasn’t the sky at all rather the intensity of light radiating from the approaching city skyline. Nightfall was upon the city, instinctively my gut tensed as I grew contemplated the outcomes of the next few hours. Regardless I continued my drive forward. If nothing else, I could catch up with Tommy at the Bureau he was always helpful and beyond insightful.

What do you do?
I love my job because it is a unique, one-of-a-kind type of job. A job no other person can possibly have. Don’t get me wrong, there are in fact millions of people who do this job, but no other person can possibly do it as I do. Not in a boasting and bragging way either. Simply put, the role of Motherhood is something only understood by the individual. For it is true there are no two like people in the world, we are all unique, individuals. Therefore, my experience of motherhood will be like no one else, because my precious boy can only be fully understood from my eyes, angle, and perception, as his mother.

Fire Starter
I had to get out, they were all around me by this point. Darkened corridors in every which direction. Doesn’t matter I’ve checked them all, at least that is the version I continue trying to convince myself. For the sake of the others, I agreed I would get out of this deathly, dark, prison. But I can’t. There’s nowhere left to go, this path has led me to corners, to walls, to no escape. All these straight lines become corners. The voices are beaming in the distance ever coming closer. I’m done for.

Esmerelda Pearheart
Welcome to Pear Tree Boulevard. Where sweet fragrances bounce with the wind, amongst the different trees and flowering buds. Beautiful and exquisite in its own way. Hundreds, in fact, thousands of Pears reside within Pear Tree Boulevard. It would be considered the New York City of the Pear Community. The Main Lane connects to City of Baskets which is the posh high-end shopping mall, plus town, where Pears can socialize with other fruit from various orchards and vineyards. In fact, Dragon Town is the neighboring field to Pear Tree Boulevard. Dragon Town is known for the exotic dragon fruit who are all about performance and the arts, namely known by the Great Dragina. She is the Superstar Model of Dragon Town. Her image captivates the heart of her town, the other dragon fruits and other fruit types who many wish to be as wonderful as Dragina. But wait, let’s roll back a moment as this story is swept up in Pear Tree Boulevard with three sisters, Veridian, Jade, and mainly Esmerelda Pearheart.

Life Under Ice
The cold arctic breeze swept around me, as I completed the turns in the toe loop jump, landing upon the ice. Arms extended to balance and slide back into the perfectly choreographed dance routine. Figure skating is my life. Never have I owned better skates. This set is a gorgeous pristine white with golden embellishments. Into the next stage of the routine, skating around to find my peace entering the salchow edge jump. Bringing my left leg around to enter the jump. Hearing the chant from the crowd “Wooo Emilia!” Twirling fast anticlockwise and landing upon the ice that was thinner than I recalled. Cracking followed by a loud thunderclap exposing the frozen pond beneath. The freezing water latched on, like death clinging to a host, climbing, and that is when I realise, I am sinking. It must have all played out like the sinking of the Titanic in fast motion. Looking up, trying to reach for the opening and gasping for air – I wake up.
