Music To (Not) Write ToTop Story - April 2021
Music is something I feel deep within my body. It isn't that I have some irresistible urge to break out into 'Free Bird' at the crack of dawn every morning or make a habit out of strumming 'Wonder Wall' on an acoustic guitar that materializes in my hands anytime college kids start drinking. I get absorbed by music, though. If I'm cleaning or cooking this isn't a problem. It's easy to throw shapes in an empty apartment while sweeping, even if that does mean I'll end up kicking at least one pile into oblivion in the process.

Here's the Thing About 'Hilda'
I have always loved cartoons. Being born in the late 80s to parents born in the late 40s left me exposed to the greatest animation that every decade of the genre had to offer. As I grew up, it became clear that cartoons were not going to be left behind as my G.I. Joe's had been. The shows I clung to as a child gave way for the early days of Adult Swim when I was a teenager, soon followed by the new golden age of animation that boomed as I became a full fledged adult. When I found out that I was going to be a father, the decision to see what children's programming I had been missing out on was an easy one to make, and soon enough I was pulled into the world of Hilda.

The Smoke(ing) Gun
Most of my working life has been spent in restaurants and bars. In over a decade in the industry, my love for the culinary arts has never waned, even if the directions I've gone with that passion have changed course more than a few times. Recently the focus of my efforts has been on the small, simple things that find themselves on almost every plate. With that in mind there is no better place to start than salt.

Your Home Is A Living Space
I try not to think of myself as someone who believes in or perpetuates any stereotypes. At the same time, I am a creative, and I am by nature a messy and unorganized person. That being said, a cluttered environment is rarely analogous to a productive one, and when you add on top of that the challenges of running a business and having a child, the desire to change becomes a need. After living most of my life in a general state of disarray before being forced to fix that for the wellbeing of more than just myself, I can confidently say that changing the way I look at and perceive my home has been the most helpful thing anyone could have suggested.

The Stars Mean Everything
I've never been much of an astrology person. That isn't to say that I'm someone who takes a hard stance against it or derides other people for caring about it. Astrology has just never been my thing. The deepest down that particular rabbit hole that I've ever really gone lies at the back of the newspaper under Horoscopes. Even though I'm not well versed in the subject, it seems to keep coming up, and so I find myself wondering what it is that the stars have to say about who I am as a person.

The first and last words have always been the hardest to write. There is something in the beginning of an idea that instills a sort of uncertainty which soon becomes a sort of paralysis which soon becomes yet another unfinished story at risk of never being told. I want to tell my stories. They want to be told. They deserve to be told.
