Good Memoirs
When we are born, we don't get to choose who our family is. It is a fact of life. We can choose our friends and extended family, and sometimes we wish we could change the family we are born into. But that is not what my story is about. This particular story is about my grandmother who passed away in 2010.

The Beginning Part Three
I asked her, "Mommy, who my Daddy? And Where is he?". She looked at me in a way I had never seen before. I’m sure many of you know the expression ‘if looks could kill’, well, this was one of those. She never answered my question either. I remember asking Matt why she would not tell me, and he said because she hates him.

The Beginning Part Two
The first thing the Lady from CPS did was walk to our little table where we were sitting and eating. She looked around the living room, and then moved to the kitchen. The two police officers stayed near the door and observed the CPS worker. No one said anything. You could feel the tension that was left by the silence in the apartment.
