This is one of many photo’s I took when my family went on a nature hike. We were walking up Catawba mountain, headed to the Cascades water falls, when I noticed something about this particular spot. I did not take a photo right then but waited until we were making our way back down for a very important reason. At the very top of the mountain, in the presence of the water fall you can hear the roaring sound as the liquid pummels down in a never ending stream. You are captivated by the majesty of nature and the handiwork of the Almighty. Even when walking away the water roars as it speeds over rocks and cliffs. This is a beautiful sound but there is one even more special to me.

America under pressure
Since George Floyd died, Americans have been revealing what is in their hearts, because pressure always causes humans to expose who they truly are. On one side there is empathy towards the plight of African American males who continue to be murdered by the police. On the other side there are citizens of this nation who simply don’t care. Michael Henkel of Philadelphia recently lost his job because he was caught on video tearing down Black Lives Matters signs and saying black lives don’t matter to him. Perhaps, more so than being racist, Henkel is simply tired of feeling the pressure.

Race relations lessons learned later in life
Long before Alex Haley wrote “Roots” and later “Queen,” author Margaret Walker produces a little known gem titled “Jubilee” in 1966. I found this rare treasure in a box of discontinued paper back books at a local library in 2015. I paid one dime for this published work that has changed my life and challenged what I thought I knew about American slavery. It has given me a different perspective and helped me realize there were other victims besides the enslaved Africans. I have read this book at least 25 to 30 times from cover to cover because it speaks to me and it’s message is relevant today.

Who is on the other end of the telephone with General Hospital’s Peter August
Peter August has done a lot of damage in Port Charles and he has not acted alone. When General Hospital begins taping once more there will be a lot of unresolved issues regarding Anna and Faison's son that must be tackled. One of them is that the viewers need to know who Wes Ramsey’s character has been talking to on the phone, each time he makes trouble. Whoever is on the other end of the line has been carrying out the bidding for "Henrik" and it’s time this person or persons is revealed. Peter obviously has some underworld connections and people ready to do his bidding. Could his father Caesar Faison possibly still be alive and helping him out, and if not, then who is?

“Y&R” insider says Billy chooses Amanda but sources can’t always be trusted
Near the end of 2019 and again in February of this year, rumors were flying that Jason Thompson and head writer Josh Griffith were on their way out at The Young and the Restless. Soap Dirt, Soaps She Knows, and Celeb Dirty Laundry all reported that set insiders had verified the information as true. Viewrs had been complaining about the storylines and angry that Griffith had not returned Genoa City to its glory days. Veteran actors were still on the back burner just as when Mal Young was head writer. Billy Abbott was having emotional issues, hallucinating, chewing gum in every scene and becoming obnoxious. Many fans were so disgusted at what was happening to this character that they were hoping he would be written out of the show.

Almost there
This photo was taken when my family went on a hike to the Cascades water fall in Catawba Virginia. This 2 mile walk should have taken no more than 40 minutes, but ended up taking two hours. My husband, middle grandchild and myself chose the hard rocky uphill trail by mistake when we wanted to walk up the smooth path. This photo comes after 120 minutes of uphill climbing over rocks, boulders, and on narrow legends. We had no cell phone service, it rained gently for a little bit and our feet slipped on muddy paths several times. It felt as if we would never make it but we continued our journey. We saw people on their way back down to the parking area at random intervals who gave us estimates of how much longer we had to go.

The picture worth a thousand words
At a glance, to the unsuspecting, this outdoor photo is simply an image of two African American men standing in front of a statue of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. There is so much more, however, to why this picture was taken and what it represents to me. The men you see are my husband, and oldest son. I aimed the Iphone camera purposefully so that their faces could be seen and Dr. King’s image is in sillouette. The area where the statue resides used to be called Henry Street and was nicknamed “ The yard.” This was the center of activity the black community in past decades and the area used to be booming with all black businesses.

Greenleaf: June 23 is the beginning of the end.
The fifth and final season of Greenleaf begins in one week. OWN has just announced that new episodes will appear on Tuesday June 23. The trailer for the hit show indicates that much will be taking place. Greenleaf producers were fortunate to be able to tape the last episodes prior to the pandemic shutting down production of television programming. Soap fans will be elated to have something new to watch, as daytime drama shows have been on hiatus since March and have just received the green light to film again. It's not clear from the video whether everything being shown will take place on the first episode or throughout the final season. It is evident that this last set of episodes will be can't miss television.

Soap fans say yes to COVID-19 restrictions.
Soaps She Know took a poll in May to find out how soap fans really feel about how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting the daytime shows they watch. An overwhelming 84% of respondents said they did not care about the new restrictions, and just wanted to see their favorite programs bring forth new episodes. Only 16% of those polled indicated that the new rules might cause problems for them. Fans of The Young and the Restless, General Hospital, and The Bold and the Beautiful are eager to see their beloved characters and also for certain storylines to conclude. Days of Our Lives has been able to continue with new episodes because they shoot 8 months in advance. Days also has another advantage over the other daytime drama programs.

Cascade Falls Adventure
This waterfall is one of my favorite images because it is proof that where there is a will there is a way. My family made it to this natural wonder and back home safely after encountering a little danger along the way. This lovely sight is nestled within the Blue Ridge mountains and is a hidden treasure that we found through great trial and error. A few years back, my oldest son decided my husband and I along with his sister’s three children should embark on a hike to this natural wonder called the Cascades. We drove down route 460 east near Dixie Caverns and Catawba Virginia, parked our vehicle and began our journey.
