Soaps She Know took a poll in May to find out how soap fans really feel about how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting the daytime shows they watch. An overwhelming 84% of respondents said they did not care about the new restrictions, and just wanted to see their favorite programs bring forth new episodes. Only 16% of those polled indicated that the new rules might cause problems for them. Fans of The Young and the Restless, General Hospital, and The Bold and the Beautiful are eager to see their beloved characters and also for certain storylines to conclude. Days of Our Lives has been able to continue with new episodes because they shoot 8 months in advance. Days also has another advantage over the other daytime drama programs.

It's being rumored that actors over age 65 will not be allowed back on the set right away but DOOL has an option where their senior cast members will not have to miss a beet. The NBC daytime drama is still ahead regarding episodes already taped. If Days delays filming new episodes until the time when older actors can be utilized, the John, Maggie, Doug, Julie, and Victor would not have to be off screen any longer than they normally do. If taping begins in late June, then the veteran seniors would have to wait a while, which would surely affect certain plots. Whenever they do begin new episodes there will be a lot of changes for everyone to adjust to.

Soaps.com brings up the question, of the manner in which some situations will be handled from this point on. They address the fact that Sally and Penny were dragging Flo into another room when B&B’s last original episode aired. If Wyatt finds her knocked out, he would have to touch her to help her up. As stated earlier, actors over age 65 will not be allowed back on the set right away, but nothing has been said about children. Characters can hold blankets that look as if a baby is being held but the children probably will not be on screen right now either. Digital technology will be utilized so that characters seem closer together but still no details regarding how love scenes will be filmed.

All 4 daytime drama shows will he affected, and they must also have a COVID-19 medical specialist on the set at all times. Daytime fans on social media say they just want new programming to come forth and are not concerned with minute details. Most people are excited to know that filming can begin again, but are viewers really going to be OK with all thing things that will be different on the shows. The soaps had not really been doing a lot of love in the afternoon lately, as in previous years. There seems to be more emphasis on adventure and mystery.

On Days there is focus on Jake and if he is really Stafan Dimera. Bell and Shawn will come back to town to help Cierra deal with her emotional issues and Brady might be about to take down his grandfather Victor for tampering with his life, yet again. Phillip will return to Salem but it's not known if he will come to his father's aid or be against him. The Bold and the Beautiful has the situation with Sally Spectra lying that she was dying. Fans want to find out if Wyatt will save Flo who was knocked out or if Sally and Penny stash her somewhere.

On The Young and the Restless, there is the mystery of Adam killing AJ Montalvo and not remembering, Dina's decline and Phyllis and Abby trying to one up each other. Kyle and Summer had been hot and heavy for a while o but may have to cool things down because of the new rules. Stay tuned for spoilers, breaking news and updates regarding the soaps returning to the air. Time will tell whether devotees of daytime drama will adjust or begin complaining about the way the episodes are taped from here on out. Keep in mind there will be social distancing, less actors on the set at one time to tape, hand sanitizer enforced for cast members as well as masks for the crew. We shall soon find out just how loyal fans are to their favorite daytime programs.
