Our Miracle Buddy
Leo was my miracle little buddy. He was a clingy little guy that grew up with lots of hugs and love, something in short supply during the global pandemic. During that dark period, many of us questioned whether seeking an emotional connection with others was possible. When Leo’s owner suddenly passed away, he became despondent. Leo lost his appetite, and the surviving husband expressed little desire to meet Leo’s health and emotional needs.

Out of This World Stockholm Syndrome
Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. That was my fear when an interplanetary spaceship suddenly kidnapped me from my patio in my apartment as I was sipping a glass of red wine after a long day. Most would surmise that this hostile encounter would be unpleasant, but to the contrary, the hospitality extended to me inside this flying vehicle was impressive!

Taking A Ride on the Circle of Life Runaway Train
After my senior milestone birthday celebration had long ended, I began to wonder if I had checked off enough bucket list experiences. The answer was obvious and not positive. This caused me much consternation as I knew it might be a good time to shift gears given that my expiration date was fast approaching. “Why did I allow this to happen without taking control of my destiny?” Sadly, I spent lots of my years reacting to things that popped into my life and never stopped to focus on the things that really mattered.

It seemed like it was yesterday that a middle-aged couple were raising their grandchildren in this cabin after the untimely demise of their parents. So, as I walked my dog Oscar around midnight, I began to wonder if the long-running fear that the family's spirits had occupied the cabin since that fateful day was correct.

Don’t Just Make Babies, Create a Special Memory
Every child growing up with a loving father often has a memory that will stay in their minds forever. While growing up, I vividly remember my dad working as a waiter in Chinese restaurants his entire life. He worked six days per week and sometimes picked up an extra shift during the beginning of a school year to buy my new school clothes, and during Christmas to buy gifts.

Summertime Fun Foods
There are many exciting foods that come to mind when we think of summer! The “top 5 summertime” foods include Hot Dogs, Corn on the cob, Ice cream, Lobster, and Potato salad! We often enjoy these fun foods when we visit State fairs, pack a picnic meal, or take an afternoon stroll with family and friends! It is a time to indulge our taste buds while shedding the many layers of clothing we used to protect us from the cold elements of winter.

Do You Believe in Dragons?
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. Growing up in a low-income housing project in New York City as a young Asian-Hispanic kid, the thought of dragons within my neighborhood was as foreign as the combination of my ethnicity. Yet my Asian father, Yiu Hon, always expressed great patience in explaining to my mom, Patricia and me the importance and benevolence of dragons. It did not matter to Yiu Hon that few residents in our neighborhood understood the importance of dragons.
