The Hollywood Strike
I'm in a lot of fan-pages on assorted social media, and something I've been seeing a lot of over the past few days is people complaining about delays to the next season of their favourite show, or the latest instalment of a film franchise.

Congratulations and well done to the Vocal team for launching the new Art community "where words and visual expression intertwine". I haven't yet had a chance to read through all of the great articles on offer but here are a few that caught my attention. If there is any interest, I will post some more reviews of fellow contributors' work sometime soon.

“The world is but a canvas to our imagination.” Henry David Thoreau I love art. In all forms. It has been a constant through painting, music, writing, and woodworking. Art, in all its forms, is how I express myself and process my own emotions. My house is full of paintings, wooden art, furniture, and tapestries. Some I have painted. I even have one my husband painted, probably the only painting he has ever done. In his words, he is not artistic.

Papá always promised me that one day, when I was old enough, I would come to understand my role in the heavens. Until then, he curbed my curiosity wisely - distracting me with fairytales of the worlds that existed far below our celestial kingdom.

Thru the Eyes of Ruby
It’s my third day of kindergarten at William Frantz. The first day, I thought I was in a parade. These four big men walked with me. Mama said they’re US Marshals. Here in New Orleans, we have a Grand Marshal leading Mardi Gras parades. People throw things and make lots of noise, just like they did for me.

“It’s not always the bird in the cage that flutters. Sometimes it is the wailings of the soul.” -Unknown Rei finished folding her 992nd origami crane, only to realize that the tip of its wing was dotted with blood. The girl frowned, before reasoning that the crane would probably still count – despite the stain.
My Daughter Is An Artist
I always encourage my daughter’s creativity since she was fifteen months old. It started with playdo and work it up to drawing. They say art is good for a child’s fine motor skills. I try to preserve my daughter art works .

This piece was created by my youngest daughter a few years ago. Wynter has been creating art, ever since she could hold a crayon. She has recently graduated from Herron School of Art, in Indianapolis and is preparing to move to NY for grad school. Everyday I am amazed at her skill and passion for expression. Using her pieces to create a story brings me unbelievable joy. Thank you for your time, in reading my work, but more for supporting a young, incredibly talented artist.
