The Persistence Of Memory
( Credit: The Persistence of Memory, Salvador Dali 1931) Imagine waking up in a world that's as elusive as a dream, yet vividly tangible - a world where the landscapes whisper tales of surrealism, and time, rather than ruling, becomes an abstract concept. This is a world uncannily reminiscent of Salvador Dalí's "The Persistence of Memory," where time does not merely pass—it bends, warps, and finally, melts away.
Art is Life or Life is Art?
Life imitates art far more than art imitates life. The Decay of Lying ~Oscar Wilde (1854-1900) The Greek philosopher Aristotle (384 BC – 322 BC) is widely regarded as believing the exact opposite of Mr. Wilde, that art imitates life. Aristotle, a born thinker, son of Nichomachus, the personal physician of King Amyntas of Macedon. In fact, in his ancient script Prior Analytics, Aristotle is credited for having the earliest study of formal logic. Aristotle went on to serve as an apprentice to Plato for twenty years before politics changed things. An invitation from King Philip II to tutor the King’s young son, Alexander (The Great) of Macedon started a new realm for Aristotle in the Macedonian Court. In the royal academy, Aristotle was teacher to not only Alexander but also two future kings, Ptolemy and Cassender.

Baker's Dozen: My Favorite 13 Tapestries in 2023 (So Far)
Trying to find things that are calming to me or make me happy is one of my goals I've set with my psychologist this year. It's hard to feel relaxed and comfortable when your brain never shuts up and your body is always tensed up. If I'm not berating myself with that infamous inner critic, I'm having nightmares or insomnia or clenching my jaw until my teeth hurt - there's just no peace in me. I've never been one for meditation, so the best I can do right now is improve the home atmosphere. Make it somewhere I want to come home to and where I can really relax. But I don't really know what that is for me yet; a lot of emotions are either practically screaming - so loud - or they're really nuanced and hard for me to grasp sometimes.

The creatives who filled the pages of General Media's Omni magazine often imagined future worlds filled with revolutionary inventions and a heightened reliance on technology. I've always enjoyed making things, though it took me a while to find my physical medium. That happened when I joined the Society of Creative Anachronism (SCA) and discovered historical textiles.
