A Showcase of Museums of Ancient China 1 Boshan furnace
In the Han Dynasty, the idea of seeking immortality was very popular, especially during the reign of Emperor Wu of Han. The emperor and nobles revered the world of immortals, sending people to search for immortal mountains and refine pills to seek eternal life. The Boshan furnace is a microcosm of this idea, where when cigarettes rise, people seem to be sitting in the midst of a "sea of fairy mountains and clouds". Boshan furnaces are generally made of bronze, and the surface is often processed with staggered gold and silver techniques, that is, gold and silver threads or pieces with cloud patterns, mountain patterns, and animal patterns are embedded on the surface of the bronze ware. Used for burning spices, for incense, etiquette, and display in court or aristocratic life. Boshan furnace usually consists of three parts: ✨ Furnace cover (Boshan shape) - The layered mountain shape symbolizes the legendary sea fairy mountains, namely Penglai, Fangzhang, Yingzhou, fairy mountains, and the world of eternal life. The top of the furnace cover has a phoenix shaped button that can be lifted and opened. The mountain is hollowed out, and cigarettes rise from the pores, like a fairy mountain shrouded in clouds and mist. ✨ Furnace body - the main part that holds spices, shaped like beans or plates. ✨ Hearthstone - The bottom is often made of divine beast feet to support the furnace body, which is guarded by the spirit realm

New Orleans’ Forgotten History: Grunewald Hall (with some Photoshop art)
I call architecture frozen music. This is the quote I feel best represents my ancestry... at least the German side of it. My third great-grandfather, Louis Grunewald, came from the tiny village of Hanhofen in Germany's Rhineland Palatinate to the city of New Orleans in 1852. In New Orleans, he is known to this day as a pioneer music merchant and original proprietor of what is now the Roosevelt Waldorf Astoria Hotel.

Like many people who have retired from full time employment, Cathy Corbishley Michel has used some of her time to develop an interest in art. In Cathy’s case the results are quite astounding. Her remarkable cyanotypes have been designed using images sourced from the historical collections of the British Museum and other institutions in England, Scotland and around the world.

Pankhurst is a name well known to the history of women’s suffrage. Who hasn't heard the name Emmeline Pankhurst, founder of the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU), an all-women organisation campaigning for the right to vote? The group that helped to achieve the right to vote for women in Great Britain and Ireland in 1918. Some know of her daughter Christabel, both being honoured by the Pankhurst memorial in Victoria Palace Gardens, London, right next to the UK Parliament buildings. Sylvia Pankhurst is notably not included in the monument. Why? Because she split with the WSPU to campaign against Britain's entry into First World War.
