Vagabond Vs. The World. Runner-Up in The Posthumous Author Challenge.
Vagabond, better known to his peers and family as Dreion Allen, died as unremarkably as he lived. His life was punctuated not with an exclamation point, but ellipsis. As an author there always seemed as if there was going to be more: something big we were all waiting for, the summation of his potential, or at least one great pivotal work of art. In line with Allen’s chosen moniker, it seems he never really stuck to one genre, no particular topic, or medium of writing. Instead, he seemed to meander through the literary world erecting strange structures of words consisting of whatever thoughts and emotions he felt at the moment. That enigma is perhaps what has led many of us to revisit his works in search of something we may have missed.

The Stewart Paradox
"I always try to be sincere. That I actually do put effort into the madness. That I want to connect with people and every time someone says "that resonates" or "howthefuckdidyoucomeupwiththat," it makes me feel a bit warm. I dunno...yeah. That I care. " — Paul Stewart, Center Stage with Paul Stewart: A Creators in the Limelight Series, Heather Hubler (2023)

I Wouldn’t Change a Word. Top Story - July 2026.
Now that I died, I feel like the wandering Mr. Scrooge. Going from store to store, searching for my name in people’s hands. You would think I would haunt my loved ones; family members, close friends, and lovers. But no. I want them to miss me for a bit, first. As for the lovers that mattered, I’m sure they’re waiting in hell once I’m finally dragged down below. As for now, here I am, at this bookstore. There’s this bald, non-binary, fluorescently-dressed person reading one of my books.

Hybrid vs. Self-Publishing
Anyone who has ever looked into the hybrid publishing industry knows it's expensive and full of shady companies that look to take your money for very little value in return. Yet, unless you're lucky enough to land an agent, your only other choice is to self-publish, which can be just as prohibitively expensive, if not more so. Which route you take is largely reliant on your time and budget. This article is about my own personal experience with both areas, the pros and cons, and what I ultimately chose. Full disclosure, there is also a small sales pitch at the end!
