And when the day finally settles,

I return to myself no music, no echo, just the quiet truth

of my own face framing the poem.

Sweetie chirps from her perch,

a tiny sunrise of her own, “Good morning, sunshine,”

because she knows light isn’t a time of day

but a way of being.

I breathe in the stillness,

the soft crackle of life unfolding,

and let the last line land gently,
