"There Are Wolves Up There!"
My professor friend K and I went for a hike to the mountains around the town of Mestia in Svaneti, the highest region in Georgia. We wanted to see the Koruldi Lakes near the glacier at the foot of the two-peak Ushba mountain of the Greater Caucasus Range separating Georgia and Russia.

My Mediterranean Odyssey:
I have had the good fortune to travel all over the world, experience different cultures, and visit a great many historical sites. Earlier, I wrote about my travels when I followed in the footsteps of Alexander the Great ; after seeing Christopher Nolan's film Odyssey , I decided to retrace the steps of Odysseus in light of the journeys I made across the Mediterranean Sea, which brought me to a point where history converges. The present account is not meant to be given in chronological order since my visits to these places took place over a period of 20 years, starting when I was living in Germany in 2004 and began traveling and exploring. Rather, I am portraying myself as a traveler searching for a way back home and, at the same time, gaining knowledge and insights through my experiences.

A Day In Settle
Introduction Settle is a favourite holiday haunt of ours. The first time we stayed we brought a car. It was parked, and it never moved til we left. Since then we have stayed for a week or two each year, getting there by train from Newcastle to Carlisle, then Carlisle to Settle over the Ribblehead Viaduct.

Mount Athos: The Forbidden Mountain Where Women Have Been Banned for 1,000 Years
Imagine a mountain rising almost 6,000 feet above the sea, surrounded by deep blue water and thick forests. Along its slopes stand 20 ancient monasteries that look more like medieval fortresses than religious buildings.

Look At That!
Bolwoningen ‘s-Hertogenbosch is the capital city of North Brabant, the Netherlands. Here you’ll find one of the oddest neighborhoods in the world, Maaspoort with Bolwoningen, which are 50 round houses that resemble giant balls. These 50 round homes sit together near a canal. They are the creation of architect Dries Kreijkamp, who designed them in the 1980s as an experimental housing project. Each ball house has two rooms which are rented out.

The Twenty-Four Hours I Keep Coming Back To:
People think they know a destination because they have seen its beaches. They recognize the famous viewpoints, the postcards, the photos that flood social media. But an island does not truly reveal itself that way. It becomes yours in quieter moments,in the sound of gentle waves before sunrise, in the sea breeze carrying the scent of salt, in the hidden shoreline where time seems to pause, and in the feeling that the world has become wonderfully smaller.

A Birthday and Anniversary Getaway to Park City, Kentucky
Some trips surprise you in the best ways, and our recent four-day visit to Park City, Kentucky, was one of those trips. We went there to visit Mammoth Cave and explore the area, but we found so much more than we expected. We discovered a tiny town filled with history, amazing food, wonderful people, and a peaceful atmosphere that made it the perfect place to slow down and enjoy our time away.

Arlington, Texas at 150
Greetings, Vocal readers and subscribers! If you've been a loyal supporter of mine for a period of time, you know that I've been talking so much about Texas and the things that I loved so much about it. I've also previously talked about how much I loved growing up in Arlington, Texas. I'll have a link to that story down below, as well as other Arlington-related stories for your viewing pleasure. In this story, I'm going to talk more about Arlington. Located west of Dallas, this city is celebrating their 150th anniversary in 2026. Before I share how much I love this city, let's learn some facts about it.

Principle
A Global Perspective on Brand Identity Is the First Architecture The first breath of any brand is engineered identity. Great brands aren’t built from trends — they’re built from identity. And identity often reveals itself most clearly in environments that refuse to perform for you, environments that simply are . Barcelona is one of those environments. A city that widens reality, confronts perception, and reminds you that infrastructure can be imagination and culture can be connective tissue.
