Let me be clear: I believe Ben Simmons was the best rookie (yes, he was a rookie; this is not up for debate) and deserved to win the Rookie of the Year award. However, Donovan Mitchell came out of nowhere and made it a much tighter race than anyone anticipated heading into the season. The Utah Jazz had been written off by many following Gordon Hayward's departure for the Boston Celtics, but as the year progressed, Mitchell began to show flashes of greatness; those flashes turned into stretches and those stretches turned into wins, playoff wins in fact. And while the return of eventual Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert helped the Jazz's case, it is indisputable that he carried the team offensively and they would have been lottery-bound without him.

My Other Job Was as an MLB Catcher: The Curious Case of World War II Spy Moe Berg. Top Story - August 2018.
With just 441 hits, a career batting average of .243, and only six career home runs, Moe Berg is hardly worthy of his own exhibit at the MLB Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y. However, it is present nonetheless. In fact, it not only is there, but the curators of the exhibit are even proud to showcase it. Why is this? What could possibly merit this man having his own exhibit? The answer to that question is as convoluted and unique as Moe Berg's life itself. You see, even though as a baseball player he was at best average, he was an extraordinary man who encompassed so much more than the game he loved. He played a 15-year career during the Great Depression and World War II, and it was during this time that he demonstrated a great love for his country as well. The crux of the matter is this: Moe Berg also made his mark as a World War II spy. Moe Berg did intelligence work for the Office of Strategic Services, which was the forerunner of the CIA. Even though this man never played a full season in the MLB, his work in the war effort is what has earned him this unique exhibit at Cooperstown.

Why Are You Ranking: Worst Ringless Sportsmen Listed from Ugly Golf Swing to Horrible Commentator. Top Story - July 2018.
With the roar of the crowd echoing through the air, the smell of popcorn and beer and peanuts also give the typical sports supporter a sense of witnessing the sublime. Over time, the athletes that take to the field inspire hope, hero-worship, and admiration. But after all of the lights of the ballpark or stadium have faded, all that is left is the shell of the player and if he has not achieved the ultimate goal in his field (a championship), it’s hard to take him seriously. Though such players may have racked up considerable statistics, awards, and other accolades, if they have failed to attain at least one championship during their career, the lingering question remains: how could they run a franchise or commentate on another player who has achieved a ring (or rings) as part of his efforts? As interest in sports like baseball and football dwindle and basketball seems like a predictable affair, the sportsmen who comprise this list did not skate on ice and didn’t participate in professional individual sports. Instead, their teams looked to them to get the job done and bring their respective city home a championship. Alas, all of them have fallen short of the glory of the coveted Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy, the Commissioner’s Trophy, or the Vince Lombardi Trophy, respectively. Though they put in years of practice and indeed displayed incredible skill and dedication, those trophies stood just out of reach. So, get your Shut Up and Jam video games and remember to always have laces out for, “Why Are You Ranking: Worst Ringless Sportsmen Listed from Ugly Golf Swing to Horrible Commentator."

I'm probably in the minority as someone who was an avid Slamball viewer. Most people who have heard of Slamball think of it as only basketball with a trampoline, but it's much more than that. Wilt Chamberlain (August 21, 1936 – October 12, 1999) played for the Philadelphia/ San Francisco Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers, and the Los Angeles Lakers. Before he was in the NBA he played college ball at the University of Kansas and he was also a Globetrotter. He holds numerous records in the NBA and will forever be one of the best centers to ever play the game.
