Since I was little, I always loved writing and reading. My world is surrounded by both of them. The world was too quiet back then. I don’t have many friends. My dad used to be a workaholic while my mom was not close enough to her children. In the old days, we fill the loneliness of our days by reading books. Writing a diary is also a cliché kids do, and it keeps continuing from kids, into teenage, and until now. Telling random things in front of someone is like exposing my vulnerability, which I am never comfortable with. I always show myself behind words.

Is the way to a man’s heart through the stomach? I grew up being told this left and right. My mother would pinch me hard when I over-salted the soup for dinner. She would spank my head when the rice overcooked, and I dreaded the days she probed me to prepare ‘ugali’ which is an African dish.

My mother had warned me that people had the tendency to hold onto past experiences. Despite how detrimental their effect may be. My mother had also said, that it is these stored memoirs that eventually can shape one. Like a touch on the surface of the skin, deep down like poison running through the veins.

Man, oh man...where do I start?! Let me just say, I had my ultimate reason for being excited for this Lifetime film, originally titled, Picture Her Dead, now retitled, The Serial Killer Seduced Me. The film's central protagonist is Chloe Cochran, a practicing artist who works at a senior care facility. Her favorite tenant is Lillian, who happens to own a particular portrait, though she doesn't reveal much about the artist, or what the "V" on painting means or stands for. Chloe, with the permission of her friend/co-worker, Rona, receives the permission to pursue her dream, but after Chloe leaves, sadly, Lillian is murdered.

Divergent movie was poorly executed but I have to say intrigued me. While author Veronica Roth did not mean Divergent to be about the politically correct term Neurodivergent referring to a mind with autism like traits, it accurately depicts how society punishes people who do not think the same.
