The context of the words was not completely understood by anyone who drove under the statement, but a clear sense of agreement was felt by many of those who saw the vandal’s work. No one could say surely what had been lost over the last few or many years, but most would argue that some aspects of the world, once taken for granted, were now gone.

His physical stature may be impressive, but his demeanor is the opposite. The shy, some might say, reclusive personality that he developed as a young boy followed him into manhood. His favorite job was crunching numbers in a quiet one man back office of a fiduciary firm. He was always polite, greeting his fellow workers with a “good morning” or “good afternoon” as he walked to the back of the office where his little hideaway was located, but never tried to engage in conversations.

Paris Street, Rainy Day 1877 Gustave Caillebotte French artist Gustave Caillebotte was known for his cityscapes during the Realism movement. This is a large oil painting and among his best-known artworks. In the painting, individuals can be seen walking through the Place de Dublin at an intersection to the east of the Gare Saint-Lazare in north Paris. Today the painting can be viewed at the Art Institute of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois.

When I was growing up, I was taught to always say “sorry.” It was considered polite and a way to avoid getting noticed or punished. I did my best to be a good girl and stay out of trouble. Despite my efforts, the adults around me would still find something wrong and ask me to apologize. I didn’t realize I could stand up for myself because no one taught me that.
