Listen To The Noise. Top Story - July 2024. Content Warning.
That hurt. My nose was bleeding, I don't think it was broken but it was bloody sore. I didn't deserve that but it's always the one who shouts the loudest and hits the hardest that people take notice of me.

Table Number 12. Top Story - July 2024.
The day was January 3, 1946, a new year that followed on the cusp of a war that had devastated all for nearly seven long years. World War II had taken a toll on everyone, but thankfully, the event now was over. Much of the recovery process had begun after the end of war on May 8th of the year before, but all would be much better when the world returned to normal. The years that followed would surely encompass a true renewal. Don wasn’t much of a church goer, but he gave a heartfelt prayer, nonetheless, for such.

The Decision. Top Story - July 2024.
As I woke up the sun rays sipped through the blinds stabbing my eyes reminding me of the reality I had to live with and the decision I had to make. No one rushed me to make a choice but time did, time wasn’t on my side. If I didn't make the decision soon I wouldn’t have a choice, time would have decided for me. Lately, my bedroom had become an asylum protecting me from the tension polluting the rest of the house. My parents’ gaze told tales of disappointment, embarrassment, confusion, or maybe worry. We never locked our eyes long enough for me to know which tale they wanted to tell, or maybe they didn’t want to influence my decision. The decision would have been easier if I managed to keep it to myself but the secret was heavy on me. In an effort to lighten the weight, I shared the secret, little did I know that by telling that one person my secret, they would start a veld fire that would uncontrollably and rapidly spread, burning through my reputation, friendships, and apparent future. Before the fires of gossip could engulf me, floods of opinions drowned me instead. What would be a better death, burning or drowning? Neither, the pain felt the same, both suffocating and slow. The clouds and sun had become my friends during the day, while the stars and the moon embraced me with sweet silent lullabies of tales as old as time. My secret was nothing new to them, they’d seen worse throughout their ancient existence. What a relief it was to finally have company that didn’t suffocate me with judgment disguised as concern but accepted me as their own. “What should I do?” I asked the reflection standing before me in the mirror and the faint shadow illuminating on the wall beside me. All the reflection did was stare back at me as the shadow stood still like a soldier, both silent but oddly soothing. They both felt what I felt and their bodies changed as mine did. Who could better understand what I was going through other than them? The reflection carried another reflection within her that might one day look like her or him or both of them or… just a memory that could have been. The shadow carried another shadow within her too that she might one day fade away into the darkness with her, that even during the darkest nights when I can't see her or be with her, she’ll have that little shadow holding her tight like his shadow once did or maybe she would continue to slumber in the dark alone till the sun came up. I had a life inside me that might one day look at me and call me “mama,” or an unlived memory that would randomly pounce on me till the day I die if I didn't die with the life. “It’s either me or it '' He had said, it hurt but I didn't blame him, we were still young and scared. I just hated that he was the only one who could get away and I had to fight the dragon before I could get away. I didn't want to be the one to make the decision, at least not alone. “What are your plans with the baby?” My parents had asked avoiding my eyes. The baby, my parents were the only ones that hadn't referred to the life inside me as an “It” which made it feel so real, I mean, which made the baby feel real. It was either the baby or masquerading the “crime/sin,” as a miscarriage to avoid judgement and disappointment that came with it, but instead be bundled up in blankets of sympathy. Sympathy seemed like a much better hell to burn in than judgement and disappointment, besides the guilt would’ve eaten me up before the flames of hell did. My mind had already been made up but were they ready, was I ready? ♤♡♧ NB: THIS STORY IS THE FIRST CHAPTER OF ONE OF MANY BOOKS I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO WRITE. The Original Title: Life Goes On. I started this story in 2021 and couldn't make it past chapter 3, I had been revisiting the story adding little by little till 2023 where i completely abandoned it. I hope you enjoy and stay tuned to the short stories that I once intended to be books. Thank you for reading ♤♡♧

Worth the Wait Part5. Top Story - July 2024. Content Warning.
“God, please let me live to tell the story." Crystal was just about to take the exit to Spring Oaks and she could already see the streetwalkers scattered about. Good thing it was early morning, so daylight was on her side. She slowly merged to the exit and simultaneously pulled out the picture of the witness. It was a mug shot, so it was clear of any blurs. Chuck Richardson. “OK, Chuck, where are you?”

Scorched Earth. Top Story - July 2024.
Humbly, they all went to the flames. One by one. Hardy smelled them as they burned, but there were no screams. "We done a good one here today, Hardy," the mayor spoke, husky and choked. The hat was low. The edge covered dark eyes watered from the smoke. "We done a good one, Hardy."

The most beautiful dream is when you pour your heart out in pursuit. Top Story - July 2024.
Although I haven't read the book yet, I really like this message and want to send it to you. Don't forget that in this world, except for life and death, everything is just a small thing and you are everything and I believe that you don't only have yourself, your health, your time and the people you love and support. Support at least yourself and there are many means to move forward so don't give up trying. Do you know why the people around you can find their own direction while you can't? forever struggling with the uncertainty or not it's because you think so You believe so The reality is that everyone is struggling with their own life I don't say everything but the truth is that there are always many Many young people who seem to have a stable job and a clear life path are actually stuck in the very life that many people wish they knew even though they have a stable job. In large corporate companies, I still feel lost. I know friends who thought they had found the right job but then realized they wanted something else. I also know friends who even though they have a job. good job but still desire to do things that are more meaningful to us. We are all stuck in boxes about our own problems, the only difference is the box, so you are not alone in this world.

Building A Better Tomorrow. Top Story - July 2024.
In the field which I work in, I have learned many things, and of those things, I would most certainly say that the most valuable tool I have in my arsenal, which has the greatest capability of helping to not just bridge the gaps, that exist when communication barriers are present, it allows for the true establishment of authentic connection, this tool is none other than Compassion. I take time each and every morning, to reflect on the experiences I have had, and when I began doing this initially, I had much more than yesterday to reflect on, I had years of trauma which had been left in the darkness, having had no light truly shed upon them for a substantial duration of time. When something happens to us, of either a smaller less significant impact, or something of a greater, more significant impact, we must always ensure that we take the time to analyze, and process these events, regardless of how big or little they may be.

Antihero. Top Story - July 2024.
I hope they nabbed the boar’s head. “Hold him, dammit!” Hawkner bellowed at the two limp squires. Blood soaked their courtly robes, turning them from a once striking royal yellow to something resembling the viscera covering the surgery floor.
